Striped Sweater and Wide-leg Jeans + a Hair Refresh for Fall.

A mixed motif gives this striped sweater some edge.

I’m really on one with the stripes, right? It’s a classic print I’ll never tire of, no apologies here. As we settle into sweater season here in KC, I’m getting into the snuggly side of my closet. This striped sweater with a mixed motif is a fun lightweight option for those milder fall days. Clocking in at just under $10 (you read that correctly– ten dollars), this is a nice number to add to your sweater collection.

Employing that sweater hem tuck trick we talked about a few weeks ago, I layered this sweater on over a pair of wide-leg jeans. Whether you call ’em cropped or culottes (both are correct), I thought they provided the perfect opportunity to showcase a pair of burgundy combat boots I scored last year. (Mine are no longer available, but I’ve got my eye on similar versions here and here.)

Jeans and a sweater, rinse and repeat– it’s that time of year. I’m trying to mix it up with different denim cuts (a wide leg here, a straight leg there, throw in a crop now and again for good measure) and prints (this trippy stripe is far from basic) to keep it fresh. And a tough boot never hurts!

Going Copper for Fall with Shear Texture.

Notice anything in the pics above? New season, new hair! My hair stylist and I went copper for fall.

I’ve been blonde for a minute now and was in the mood to change it up at my recent appointment with Stephanie of Shear Texture. I really liked the idea of leaning into my hair’s natural strawberry tones, so Steph grabbed the copper and went to work. Here’s where we landed:

Hello, warm tones!
Before and After: From Beachy Blonde to Copper. | LSR
A before and after to really highlight the change: beachy blonde to copper just like that.

Steph used a demi-permanent color, which means it fades over time (well, technically every time you wash). Here’s a shot of me about 6 weeks after my hair appointment– that’s a nice fade!

The bold copper has toned down, but the overall vibe is still warm and fall-friendly.

I’m actually popping in to see Steph this week to re-up on the copper. Hello, holiday hair!

  1. Stylish as always. You’re more reliable than most cars I’ve owned. πŸ™‚ Oh, btw, my new motorcycle arrived today! It has a beautiful vintage look to it.

  2. I followed you because you were different…but your style is not inspiring..very clown like and your blog is lackluster. I’m sorry for this harsh review but I don’t understand where you’re coming from.

    1. What can I say, Amy? I didn’t choose the clown life, the clown life chose me.

The good news is that you are free to browse any blog you like! If mine feels lackluster, keep it movin’ and find something that speaks more to your refined tastes.

  3. I’m loving those copper tones in your hair, Ashley! Gorgeous! I’m also really loving those cropped jeans, which show off the boots to perfection. And no, you can never go wrong with stripes! Especially for just ten dollars. That’s amazing!
    Big hugs

    1. I have quite a bit of reddish tones in my hair naturally, so leaning into that with a richer color for fall sounded fun! πŸ™‚ Thanks, Carrie!

    1. I know- I was very impressed by the quality when it came in the post.

So glad you like the new hair color, Allie- and I hear you! Gray balancing is definitely an art form!
