Khaki Crop Top and Wide-leg Trousers.

Neutral vibes in a cool khaki outfit to kick off summer.

Monochrome outfits seem to be my thing lately, and I’m back in this head-to-toe khaki look for the summer issue of KC Homes & Style. The outfit centers around these breezy, ultra-wide-leg trousers, with their high waist and ground-skimming hem. I added a khaki crop top, and boom! Monochrome achieved.

The cognac-colored belt really nips things in. It also provides a nice way to introduce another color without straying from the neutral base. I found an easy sandal with a low wedge in a shade that matched the belt to really tie things together.

The combination of a single color worn top to bottom and super long trousers that skim the ground (but don’t pool at the feet) make for some serious elongating. (I’m only 5’5!) I also love the mega dose of sophistication this look gives– if safari chic were an outfit, this is it.

Now that summer is officially here, I’m sure we’re all on the hunt for lightweight fabrics. Even though these are full-length trousers, the super airy polyester makes them a breeze (literally) to throw on despite the higher temps. Perfect for popping from a sunlit patio into an air-conditioned restaurant for brunch, or you could slip a blazer over the top and take this look right into the office.

Lightening Up for Summer with Shear Texture.

I’m still in my copper era when it comes to hair. I love the warmth and the little bit of pop it gives. Now that summer is here, I wanted to go a little bit lighter and add a lot of blonde to the mix.

Worked with Stephanie at Shear Texture to achieve exactly that: ribbons of light gold woven in with the copper, with lots of warmth and brightness around the face.

Here’s the final result right after we styled it at Steph’s salon. You can see how the late-afternoon sun really makes the copper pop!

Here’s a shot of it styled curly (my standard operating procedure) in more neutral lighting. I love all the brightness around my face!
