Satin Suit for the September Issue of KC Homes & Style.

Walking that fine line between summer and fall in this satin suit.

The satin suit is back! Remember this Y2K-printed set from this spring? I also snagged it in a fall-friendly tiger print for the September issue of Kansas City Homes & Style. Septembers in KC are largely extensions of summer, despite what the return of football and sweaters front and center in stores suggest. This translates to some tricky seasonal outfitting.

It’s all about striking a style balance– you want to hint at fall without committing to anything that’ll induce sweating. Flirt with fall, but stay anchored in summer. This satin suit really walks that line because it’s full length and super breezy. Despite a 95° shoot day, I stayed cool. Not a sweat mustache in sight. And this print! Talk about an autumn stunner– and deep teals like this always make me think of fall.

The last time I ventured into satin playsuit territory, I chose a black braided sandal. I opted for a suede pump (in that aforementioned teal, no less) to nudge things more into fall territory.

It’s just satin season around here, isn’t it? I’m into it. While last week’s nearly-neon blazer definitely hit all the summer notes, this satin situation is a whole different vibe. I’m excited to break these pieces up, too– I love the idea of the tunic worn with leather leggings and boots for a sassy date night look, or tucking a slim-fit black turtleneck into the trousers for a comfy-but-stylish Thanksgiving outfit.

    1. Yes! I totally get it- we’re seeing fall everywhere right now, but it’s just not practical to really break out the sweaters. I’m so glad you liked this look!

  1. What a fun outfit! I love the print and the colors but most importantly, how breezy it looks! We are currently having a heatwave in my neck of the woods and I hear you on that fine line. I must say I haven’t tried or worn satin before but there’s always a first, right?
