Edgy Holiday Outfit in All-black.

Yes, you can rock an edgy holiday outfit.

I know, I know: jewel tones are all the rage every holiday season. And I’m down with that– usually. But sometimes you just want to go against the typical holiday grain, and when you do, allow me to enter this edgy holiday outfit into consideration. I took a sheer black bodysuit (technically a piece of lingerie, sorry Dad) and paired it with high-waisted black jeans (these Topshop jams are clutch + fit true to size) and a much-loved Brooks Brother’s blazer I found ages ago at a thrift shop. (My only real thrifting win; it’s vintage and a men’s size small. You can score a dupe here for about $100.) Tough-but-cool ankle boots and a Zac Posen bag round things out, with the bag (and a $13 H&M scarf) being the only deviations from my all-black vibe.

I really love the way a not-usually-for-public-consumption item like a lingerie teddy works against the slouchy menswear blazer. It’s not only a look, but it also provides coverage. The all-black-everything aesthetic is flattering and minimal, while still making a statement. This might not be the outfit for your family Christmas (unlike your grandma is super chill, ha, or your family is like mine and just realizes you wear what you want, when you want), but it definitely works for getting together with ol’ college pals for dinner over the holidays, or a winter date night with your beau. (Wanting to go a little more casual? Try this look.)

  1. This works perfectly on you. It creates visual shapes and colors that reflect your natural self. Not everyone can pull off so sassy a style but you can, my sassy friend!

    1. Haha, right? Leave it at home if grandma’s going to be there- but this teddy totally plays for non-fam events! Thanks, Allie!

  2. I love this look! I always love to wear an edgy look like this, too! Thanks for sharing! 🙂 Happy Holidays!
