A round on live TV means a bright floral blouse.
Raise your hand if you’re completely over winter. (Picture me with both arms in the air.) You’ve lost your charm, ice + snow. Time to move on and make room for spring all that brings– like a bright floral blouse and abundant sunshine.
For a recent segment on Better Kansas City (you can watch here if you like), I wanted something that hinted at spring without going full-stop May. I love this bright floral blouse from H&M (seriously, such a steal); it paired so well with classic skinny jeans (get ’em here) and blue pumps.
Shop the look:
I recently realized I’ve been doing segments for BKC for just over three years! That’s really something, right?
I remember being so incredibly nervous my first few (okay, first ten) segments. I would almost get sick to my stomach in the days leading up to the show– public speaking has never been my jam. I wanted the opportunity, of course, but the thought of messing up was really scary.
I would rehearse my talking points over and over again, committing them to memory in hopes I wouldn’t freeze when the cameras started rolling. I would wake up extra early the day of the show to practice a few more times while I was getting dressed and doing my makeup.
Now, while I still write + practice the segment beforehand, I don’t run through it as obsessively. I work hard to get it down, then I check in and do a few more practice runs. I also don’t get nervous in the days ahead of the show– I’m more excited about what outfit I’ll wear.
I do still get a quick flush of nerves as I’m standing on set just before the camera cuts to me– I don’t care how long I’ve been doing it, the realization of, “We’re live in 10…” will make anyone nervous! However, a deep breath calms me enough to keep my voice steady. I relax my knees (wouldn’t be cute to pass out on live television), and smile– and then it’s go time!
Shopbop Buy More, Save More Sale.
Shopbop is helping you get rid of those winter blues by having a serious sale. The great part about this sale is that the more you spend, the more you save! It also includes both full-price and sale items, so you can really score some deals.
You can get 15% off $200+ orders, 20% off $500+ orders, and 25% off $800+ orders. If you’ve got some tax refund money to spend on a new designer piece, now is totally the time to buy because you can save so much money off the retail price. Use code: GOBIG18 at checkout.
There are a lot of scores to be had– like this straw clutch for under $35 or this gorgeous floral dress for under $200. I’m probably going to pick up another pair of those cult-fave Spanx leggings and this super cute bralette, which will work so well under spring + summer tanks and dresses. I have this ring set from Gorjana and wear it constantly; you can also score my Quay sunnies (on heavy rotation!) as part of the sale, too.
The buy more + save more sale runs today through today– Tuesday, February 27th– through this Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 (at 10:59 PM Central time). That’s 5 days to score some sweet new digs!

That floral print is pretty. It has that soothing feeling when worn as it also looks so light to wear. Public speaking is no joke, it takes skills to be good at it, good on you.
