90s Daisy Dress + Crop Top.

Layering a crop top under a strappy 90s daisy dress.

This is straight out of the Clarissa Explains It All fashion playbook, am I right? A daisy dress– both super a-line cut and mini– over a white tee? So 90s, I can barely stand it!

I had forgotten how much I loved this trick; it used to be my go-to for making spaghetti strap dresses a-okay for schooltime outfitting. Just layer a t-shirt on underneath! A crop top makes this even easier because you don’t have to worry about extra fabric bunching around under the dress.

While a t-strap flat sandal or a wedge would be a good choice to wear with this daisy dress, I opted for a pair of nude mule booties to anchor the look in 2018. (Pss, they’re under $40!)

As we approach mid-summer (cannot believe I’m typing that– how is 2018 both the longest and the shortest year to date?), I’ll be on the lookout for lightweight dresses like this daisy dress to stay cool without sacrificing style. That’s the best thing about summer: it really doesn’t take much to look put together. A printed summer dress is really all you need– the main caveat is whether or not it has enough coverage for the venue. As-is, this outfit goes all places casual: brunches, showers, BBQ’s, date nights, girls’ nights out, etc. The shorter hemline makes the look flirty, and you can opt out of the crop top if you want to go even breezier. I would choose something just a touch longer for the office, but I love employing the crop top trick to make spaghetti straps work at the 9-5 and probably slip into a flat sandal.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend ahead!

  1. MAJOR 90s vibes here! I swear I had a tank top with that exact print in 6th grade. I have to admit, I don’t hate that it’s back!
