Extra LSR: Currently…

Time to check in!

We’re halfway through the year, so I’m checking in with what I’m currently loving, planning, doing, and eating.

Eating: All the healthy fats. I’ve been trying to really get into the keto zone (I usually flirt with low-carb and/or try to keep the carbs meaningful vs. super empty + processed, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually been in ketosis– which is the stage where your body gets its energy from fat vs. from carbs.) Avocadoes, coconut oil, cheese, and eggs are my best pals right now. The ratio for keto is to get 60-75% of your calories from fat, 15-30% from protein, and only 5-10% from carbs. I’ve also been making these strawberry cheesecake keto fat bombs when I need a sweet treat with a decent dose of fat without the carbs. You can follow my Pinterest boards that include keto recipes here, here, and here. But don’t worry, there are plenty of other yummy (and healthy!) recipes for you if keto isn’t your thing.

Drinking: Iced tea- aka my summertime jam. My mom used to drink it all the time when I was a kid; there was always a fresh pitcher in the fridge. But unsweetened, thanks very much. I understand that’s a Southern thing– when someone orders an iced tea down south, the default is the super sugary variety. I like mine straight up, no sugar, with a squeeze of lemon.

Watching: Scandal. I’ve been watching it from the beginning for the past month or so on Netflix. Um, where was I when this show came out?! Clearly under a rock. Now I totally get all the Olivia Pope badass pop culture references.

Going: Nowhere! Just got back from a quick Colorado trip for a friend’s wedding, so this weekend I am vegging out + catching up. I’m getting a BBL treatment tomorrow afternoon– BBL is light therapy that rejuvenates, tightens, and increases collagen production. It also boasts little to no downtime post-treatment, so I’m super excited to try it out!

Loving: Button-front everything (like this dress and this skirt– so 90s!), all the slides (I’ve been living in this white pair and also love this knotted sandal version which you can see here), and bodysuits under denim shorts. My fave denim shorts are these bad boys. Totally worth the price!

Working: On something really exciting! I’ve partnered with a big brand and am so excited to launch our first round of content next week. Hint: triple!

Listening: To the new Loote album, single. I’m a pop princess at heart and really dig this duo.

Buying: All the fall essentials in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale next week. This is the store’s biggest sale of the year– and while it seems a bit crazy to be buying tall boots and sweaters in July, you will save so much money on stuff that always inevitably sells out! My Nordie’s post is coming at you next Thursday when early access (for Nordstrom cardholders) opens up. Get more information on the sale right here.

Planning: End of July and August content. In addition to the big partnership I’m announcing next week, I’ve got a few more cool collaborations in the mix– as well as a new YouTube video I just released with my stylist, Steph. We’re covering hair mistakes you should never make; this one is definitely a must-see!

Wondering: How long I can stretch my current gel manicure. I’ve been wearing this one for almost 2 weeks– how long do you guys go between appointments/touch-ups?

Feeling: Pretty accomplished as we approach mid-summer. I’ve got a nice work + life + blog balance right now (knock on wood!) and am feeling on top of my to-do list. This is so essential to my overall mood– I’m someone who cannot relax if there are outstanding tasks to check off. (Hello, OCD!) I get a serious dose of dopamine when I feel organized, so keeping that list in check is so key.

  1. Ahhh, how are we half-way through the year???? That actually makes me a little sad:(

Girl I am with you on the iced tea – no sugar, just straight and I do sometimes add a little lemon as well:)

Hope you had a great 4th!

  2. This is such a lovely post! I will need to do one myself. It’s fun to get to know other bloggers- what they like, what they do for fun, etc. Iced tea is also my FAVORITE go-to drink.

  3. I’m so excited and happy for you regarding your big partnerships. can’t wait to find out who they are! Also, big props on going Keto. I keep toying with the idea on trying out a new diet, but I always chicken out haha. I’m also the same way when it comes with Iced tea. I can’t handle the sugar stuff.

    1. Thanks so much, Rach- I’m excited to share!

And I got some serious motivation from my bestie who has been doing keto hardcore since the spring and has seen so many great results!

Noooo sugar, please and thank you! I like to EAT my calories, not drink ’em! 😉

    1. I have read from so many sources that getting into true ketosis is super tough the first time- and healthy fats are the way to go!

  4. Love iced tea in the sweet summertime. Excited for your Nordie post and to hear about your collab!

  5. I used to do low-carb dieting to lost weight and I would get the little keto sticks to pee on to see if I was on ketosis – are you using them? It can take awhile to get there, but once there I found I could add in a few more carbs each week and not lose the ketosis.

Congrats on the brand collab! Woohoo! Can’t wait to see what it is. Triple..triple threat? Triple A? Triple Crown?

    1. Yes! The little sticks are genius!

And I love your guesses- you will be surprised next week! 🙂

      Have a great weekend, lady!

    1. Hahaha- it was definitely an adjustment at first! It’s SO CRAZY how carbs are in everything… Like way unfair. 😉

  6. I loved reading about what you’ve been loving recently! I just finished Scandal last month and absolutely loved the show 🙂 I’m on a ketogenic diet, actually, and coming from someone who grew up believing that carbs were absolutely indispensable, I can tell you it has actually been incredible easy to survive without them (and enjoying your food!).

  7. I just came back from traveling so I’m back to blogging after having a month off — definitely helped my work/life balance. I wish I could do the keto thing because I really need to cut down on my carbs, lol. And I’m also loving all things button front right now. They’re trendy but so cute. Stop by the blog some time — I have a new post all about my travels to Italy.

  8. I’ve never watched Scandal before. But I know people are like OBSESSED with it! Can’t wait to see your new collab!

  9. I LOVED Scandal until I got to the last two seasons and then I thought it got kinda silly. I don’t know where you are in the series right now, but prepare for that. Ice Tea is my favorite summer drink too! As for the Nordstrom Sale, I really hate this time of year because I can’t stand all the Nordstrom Sale posts. I never understand what everyone sees in this sale. I think the stuff is still too expensive and I never see anything new or fresh. But, bloggers and people love it, then there a lot of women who think like I do. I think it’s one of those love/hate type of things.

  10. Scandal was one of my favorite shows too until the last two seasons. I thought it got a little silly and didn’t make sense. Ice Tea is my favorite summer drink as well. The Nordstrom Sale…yuch. Never understood the hype. But lots of women love it and look forward to it every year.

  11. I’m with you-iced tea is so good, but sweet tea makes me feel like I’m getting cavities! And that’s coming from an Alabama girl-haha! Seriously though, I think I need to go brew a pitcher and stick it in the fridge right now 😉

    xoxo, SS
