Vintage Silk Dress + Faux Fur Coat.

This vintage silk dress + coat combo is Kansas Prairie Game of Thrones.

I don’t have the best eye when it comes to vintage pieces– admittedly, I’m an of-the-moment kind of girl. But Kindred Shops has a really killer vintage section: a few local boutiques who scour the city sourcing secondhand stuff, curated under the Kindred umbrella. I make it a point to browse the section whenever I’m in, and this brightly-colored vintage silk dress jumped out at me during my last visit. Isn’t it giving you all the Gucci vibes? I love the higher neckline and those fun pleated sleeves. The drop waist is flattering, and the whole dress feels like a big ol’ expensive nightgown– aka, comfy as all hell.

I wanted to capitalize on that boho vibe, so I slipped on this faux fur coat I picked up during the Nordstrom sale (still available for only $100, if you’re interested) and a pair of cool Western boots. The end result was Kansas Prairie Game of Thrones, with a gypsy pimp vibe. The coat is super snuggly; you don’t have to sacrifice on warmth for style with this bad boy.

I teamed up again with David Sosna to shoot the look, and together we managed to turn a parking garage into my Prairie Kingdom. I love the way these shots turned out!

PS, I regularly work with Kindred, but this isn’t a sponsored post. I found this dress on a recent trip to the boutique and purchased it myself, and am mentioning it here because if you are looking for top-notch vintage goods in KC, you can find ’em at Kindred.

    1. Thanks, sista- and right? I find vintage shopping tough, which is why I love Kindred for having a killer eye for choosing that stuff.

    1. My vintage eye isn’t usually that good- but my pals at Kindred did all the heavy lifting by having this dress on their racks!

  3. Whoa! Beautiful pictures and this dress is more than amazing, it is spectacular. The colors, the style and the fit all look fabulous. I can see why you had to buy it. I wouldn’t let it slip away either. Your teddy coat looks so cozy and definitely snuggle worthy! Great color pick too.

  5. Oh I LOVE this look! That dress is such a score. You are inspiring me to have a look around a vintage shop in a town on Long Island that has a retro vintage shop. And the coat! I saw someone walking out of the building I work in wearing coat similar to this but in a darker color. It caught my eye for sure.
