Ahhh, dress season– it’s back! It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for things to thaw out enough to justify bare legs… And here we are! I was at Kindred Shops a few weeks ago scoping out their spring offerings (hint: so good!) and I spotted this corduroy dress from Knitted Belle Boutique. (Quick refresher: Kindred curates a bunch of stellar boutiques in the KC area under one roof, making it one of my go-to stops when I need something fresh in my closet.) Sailor girl chic, hello! The gold buttons and the double-breasted cut gave it a distinctly nautical feel, but I love how the sturdy corduroy made it perfect for early spring when the weather’s still cool.

To keep the dress anchored in spring (vs. summer), I layered a white cropped t-shirt underneath. And back for their third appearance on the ol’ blog: the 90s Dad Sneakers! (See ’em here and here.) They’re still fully-stocked at Shopbop; I’m wearing my normal size 8.

I love how the dress is throwing some major sailor girl vibes but the rest of the look adds an athleisure spin: a classic + fitted white tee and white sneakers. It keeps things very cool and casual. To remix, I’ll take off the crop top and wear the dress alone once we’re in late May/early June. Throwing on an oversized jean jacket (like the one in this look) is another option. And if I’m looking to lean into the dressiness of the dress (eloquent phrasing, don’t you think?), I’ll shelve the sneakers and grab a summer sandal.
