90s Sneakers and a Camo Jacket.

A quick shot of camo and the chunkiest 90s sneakers ever.

The silver lining to an extended winter: my entire coat collection gets some play.  I brought this camo jacket out of the archives and wore it over those much-loved Madewell jeans and a new pair of super chunky, oh-so-stupid (read: amazing) Jeffrey Campbell 90’s sneakers. (They’re sold out almost everywhere but you can still score ’em here.) Come on! They’re Peak 90s Dad, am I right?

I’ve been seeing these retro sneakers everywhere on the runways lately. Instantly curious, I started hunting around for a pair that a) wasn’t $900 (bless you, Balenciaga, but I won’t spend that much on such a trendy item) and b) were flattering. That uber-chunky sole can really visually weigh the leg down if you don’t have legs for miles and miles. (I’m 5’5 so I clearly do not.) These Jeffrey Campbell bad boys have a little uptick at the arch, which helps lengthen. Thank you, I’ll take it.

The rest of the look is pretty simple: jeans and a sweater. (PS, if you’re in the KC area, you can swing through Kindred Shops at Oak Park Mall or Independence Center and score this sweater!) I am on my second pair of these Madewell high-waisted jams because I seriously live in them. That 10-inch rise is money, you guys! Madewell denim fits so nicely, holds its shape, and is well worth the investment.

I’m looking forward to the spring (seriously, I know I’m a broken winter-themed record at this point, but Kansas City has been in an endless frozen hell and I’m so beyond over it) when I can wear these 90s sneakers with dresses and shorts. Picture it: these chunky monkeys with a floaty sundress, or with a pair of cutoffs and a summer-weight sweater. Yes, please!

I’m back on Thursday with some of my go-to Amazon buys!

  1. Everything about this look has got me head over heels Ashley! That camo jacket is a show stopper and those white dad sneakers are perfect complement. I am not quite there regarding getting one for my wardrobe but I do love how you styled it. I hope today is a bit warmer on your end, I know this weekend started feeling like Spring over here so I wanted to pass along the sunshine! Happy Tuesday!

  2. At first glance I thought the title of the post was 99 sneakers hahaha I was like no! I was kind of slow to the chunky dad sneaker trend. And yes would not spend on a lot on this. I got semi-dad sneakers on sale from MK so $70 from $140 that works for me.

These are great and a wonderful affordable option
