Plaid Car Coat + Monk Straps.

It’s that lovely time of year when you need a jacket, but full-blown parkas are too much.

Lightweight jackets to the rescue, like this plaid car coat.

Car coats are typically longer in length + roomier in fit; they have a definite menswear vibe. This coat from ASOS is lightweight, almost like a cardigan masquerading as a jacket. For a cooler fall morning, it was an easy choice to throw on over a standard v-neck t-shirt, gray skinnies, and a pair of monk strap flats.

I’ve been seeing monk strap shoes everywhere this fall. They’re a great combination of tough + classic. I wear them just as I do oxfords; they work with jeans (as pictured here), but also add an edge to a dress.

  2. I went coat shopping last week but find it so stressful. Coats never fit me. The smallest size is way to big and if there is a belt if all falls about 3 inches above where it should. Even when I go for non structured coats they are still too big. Oh well. You look great in this one!

  3. SO unbelievable for KC, I love it! Have fun at the Wine Walk! I love that plaid jacket, and I learned something new here with “monk strap” shoes–I didn’t know that’s what those were called!
