A fall floral dress styled for late winter.

Are you tired of winter yet? Same. After a 2-week deep freeze, I’m feeling especially over it. I’m also over my wardrobe right now– which is really silly, since a) I never wear “real” clothes unless I’m shooting for the blog and b) I have more than enough clothes. To shake things up, I’m attempting to grab some old(er) pieces and wear them together in a different way. Case in point: this olive green wool vest and a fall floral dress.
You last saw this wool vest (or sleeveless trench) over 2 years ago as part of an edgy denim outfit. These boots are even older– from 2016! This dress is a few years old but has never made a blog appearance. It used to be one of my go-to fall work dresses since it was long enough to pass HR’s dress code. You know, back when I used to go to an office. And actually get dressed during the week. 😉
Shop the look:
I really like this outfit as an alternative to jeans and a sweater (which feels so overplayed here in early March). The wool vest is long and hefty, so it does provide quite a bit of warmth. The thigh-high boots are fashionable, sure, but their real perk is that they keep your legs nice and toasty against any late-winter chills.
And don’t get me started on my love affair with olive green. It’s well-documented around here. It’s just such a good neutral! Softer than black and navy, bolder than tan and white– you really can’t go wrong.

I’m definitely ready for spring, bring it on!
I really like the idea of a sleeveless vest: it is usually warm enough here to not wear a long sleeve layer in early spring but still gets somewhat cold in the mornings.

Yes, pieces like this are great for transitional not-too-hot or too cold weather!
The perfect spring “jacket” – seriously love the color!

KC is actually a lot warmer this week and it feels amazing- gets me all pumped for spring, for sure!
I LOVE that wool vest and how you styled it! Still fabulous for spring but also looks warm which is essential where I live right now!
Rosy Outlook
Right? I love that it’s March and spring is on the way, but KC will have some chillier days for another month or so, so a vest like this is necessary!
This look is spectacular! The best is perfect with the dress and love the boots too.

Thanks, Rach! It added a nice coordinating layer to keep warm!
Those boots on you are LIFE GOALS. I wanna come back in my next life as your legs in those boots. (THAT’S not creepy at all) (I swear).
I also want to come back as a seagull or a well-loved house cat. I’ll leave all that up to the powers that be.
I also have a love affair with olive green in all its many tones, from blue-toned to yellow-toned. It’s like a thousand different colors in one color, you know?
Whatever I had for breakfast, I probably shouldn’t have.

I love this outfit, Ashley! Ha, I know what you mean about being over your wardrobe. While our winters are very mild, I just don’t like cold weather clothing as well as summer clothing. And maybe that’s because I’m not a fan of winter, even a mild one.
Michelle
