Olive Green Sleeveless Trench + Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots.

Statement boots, statement trench.

Ah yes, fall: aka the perfect time of year to wear those pieces that don’t quite work in extreme weather. Take this sleeveless trench, for example. Gorgeous olive green color, but the heavy wool fabric means it doesn’t play in the warmer months, while the sleeveless nature makes it tough to wear in the dead of winter. So this number was made for October and November! I layered it over the top of a long-sleeved lace-up bodysuit (a little sneak peek of sexy without going overboard) and high-waisted black jeans. Thigh high boots (mine are Stuart Weitzman and were a birthday present a few years back, but these are a killer dupe for way less) added some height and drama.

I love how sexy this outfit was, despite the fact I was mostly covered up. I was also warm! Wool trench, long sleeves, tall boots– these elements combine for coziness, no additional jacket required. The bodysuit was such a great (and cheap!) score a few years ago, but this one is the perfect dupe.

Question: is anyone else tripping over the fact Thanksgiving is one week away? I’m reeling over here. I feel like 2018 has been both the longest and the shortest year. I have no idea what I’m bringing yet (my family always assigns me appetizers and such) or what I’m wearing. I need to check the forecast– KC Thanksgivings can either be totally gorgeous (think 60s and sunny) or cold and miserable (upper 30s and rainy). Some years, we’re all outside on the deck drinking mulled wine in the sunshine, or we’re huddled around the oven staying warm and shoveling piping hot yams into our mouths– you really never know with Kansas City.
