Getting festive in a holiday tinsel sweater.

Is it me or did the holidays come out of left field this year? I swear it was Labor Day a few weeks ago. But here we are, gearing up for winter with Thanksgiving coming at us next week! Time to break out the festive gear. Kansas City Homes & Style is in the same mindset; this holiday tinsel sweater is the standout piece as party of the look I put together for their November/December issue.
Leather shorts (last seen here) were a fun alternative to a skirt. (Snag a similar pair here.) To keep the look from feeling too September, I used those same patterned fishnet tights from last week to create the illusion of a base layer. A preppy-party-mode shoe? Chunky heeled loafers. The gold horsebit provides the kind of shine we’re looking for in a holiday shoe, but that sturdy heel means you can stand around and drink eggnog all night.

Here’s what I dig about this holiday tinsel sweater besides the obvious festive sparkle factor: the red and gold grid print is a subtle nod to our Kansas City Chiefs, which means this sweater pulls double-duty at a holiday party and as part of an elevated game day outfit. Score. It’s that type of walk-the-line sweater that works both for holiday and just regular ol’ winter.
