Extra LSR: Office Tour.

Fancy an office tour? Sharing some snaps.

Office tour time! Our new house came equipped with this beautiful dining room right off the front entryway. The only problem was: Dave and I have zero use for a dining room. Instead, I pictured this room repurposed as my home office– something I didn’t have in the old house, where I’d blog while perched on the couch. I would have all the space I needed, plus a ton of natural light courtesy of the quad bay windows at the front.

Since you guys really loved the tour of my beauty room, I figured I would share the office now that it’s done. Shall we dive in?

Shop my main office elements:

Here it is! Pretty girly, right? So curious, because I’m not naturally very feminine-leaning in my style taste, and yet my office is, all white with blush and rose gold accents.

The first thing to purchase was a desk, and I loved the idea of an L-shaped one. Modern is totally my style, so I pulled the trigger pretty quickly when I saw this bad boy. Not a bad price and it gave me some configuration options in case I wanted to switch it up in the future.

The open shelves gave me space to display pieces I’ve picked up when Dave and I travel, a couple coffee tables books on beauty and style, and a few pieces I inherited from my Grandmother (like that bone abacus you see above; I used to play with that thing all the time as a kid!).

The chair (and blush throw) came next. Then an area rug. I’m obsessed with round rugs right now; this one was such a good buy.

You might recognize my print of the Trevi Fountain as a piece that previously hung in my dressing room at the old place. With those pink and baby blue tones, I knew it would be perfect here. Even though I bought this when I was in college (ages ago!), you can still get it here.

The view from my desk. Muffin doing some recon, as per usual.

So girly, much marble- total basic overload… But I love it!

Shop my desk:

I’ve found little gems on Amazon that have streamlined and organized my desk. I use this rose gold multi-USB all the time; it’s handy when you need to plug in more than your laptop ports allow. This pencil holder is a chic way to keep my pens in order, and I use this Bluetooth speaker to pump some tunes while I edit. I have a few notebooks where I jot ideas and keep track of affirmations, also Amazon scores here and here.

I’ve got a little vignette in the back of the office– it’s been one of the last spaces to come together before I could launch this office tour. A(nother) rose gold table with an oil diffuser (yes, it’s white marble because I am the most basic), an astrology book (I’m basically a witch), and then a little credenza for storage.

The office faces west and is bright all day, so I couldn’t resist filling it to the brim with plants. If you’re new, hi, I’m Ashley, and I’m a crazy plant lady. I like to be surrounded (read: inundated) with succulents, porthos, palms, and really anything green.

The office gets a ton of natural light thanks to the wall of windows and gets pretty warm in the afternoon, so really, my office doubles as a little greenhouse. I re-potted almost every plant pictured here; some because they were new and needed permanent pots and some because they had been transplanted from the old house and were in that decor style. It seemed like a good time to re-pot everything in something slightly bigger (to give ’em room to grow) in pots that fit the aesthetic of the space (lots of white, cool-toned gray, and marble).

Re-potted both of these plants from darker pots that matched the decor at the old house.

Another green corner and a cameo by Muffin (again). She was following me around on the day I shot this room.

And yes, that’s a pink dog bed. There are dog beds all over the house to accommodate our 3 (spoiled rotten) rat terriers, so naturally, I had to buy this super soft pink one when I stumbled upon it on Amazon.

An office wasn’t a must-have on my list when we first started house hunting, and now I can’t imagine living without one! It’s so nice to be able to have a space to sit down and work that isn’t on the corner of the couch. (Also, way better for my posture, ha, as I’m no longer hunched over working on the couch.)

I spend a ton of time here now; it’s where I come to get shit done. I carve out about 20 minutes each morning during the week (while my moisturizer soaks in) clearing my inbox, brushing up on my to-do list, and preparing for the day ahead. And most weekend afternoons you’ll find me here– diffuser bubbling and salt lamp shining– writing and editing for the blog. It’s my personal blush and marble paradise!

Hope you enjoyed my office tour!

  1. It’s BEAUTIFUL….like you!! I love all the pants and the pink touches!! Such a sweet window to lookout too!! Great job!

    1. I really have a plant problem- especially when the greenhouses open for spring and I start putting flowers in pots ALL over the porch + deck! Haha!

  2. Beautiful! Love seeing your style of decor. Very pleasing.

Most people don’t need a dining room so your use of the space like this is sooo smart. I’m planning to buy a new place soon and have the same idea.

    1. We definitely don’t need a traditional dining room- we usually eat in the kitchen at the bar, or outside on the deck during warmer weather. And now I get to enjoy this gorgeous room! 🙂

  3. You have such a creative eye Ashley!! I love the idea of making a dining room into an office!! Brilliant.

    1. This room switch has worked out so well- I’m actually working from home today from my 9-5 and I’m here at the desk, just getting it DONE! 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! I didn’t realize what I was missing not having an office in the previous house- muuuch better to have a set-up that allows me to work NOT on the couch, lol. 😉

    1. Hahahaha, dining rooms can be SO pretty, but we just usually end up eating in the kitchen or outside on the deck- hence, an office space! 🙂 And aren’t those rose gold tables fun? Amazon ftw!

  4. Gorgeous! Love that you took the space you weren’t going to use, and made it into something fabulous! Reminding me how much I need to re-do our home office now that I work from home more <3

    1. A dining room- while beautiful- just isn’t a space that we would use. So an office made perfect sense! It’s been fun creating this. 🙂
