Sequins are becoming a trend you can work in broad daylight. These shiny little embellishments are no longer reserved for New Year’s Eve celebrations or weddings.
How to make sequins a bit more casual: use them as a base layer (rather than the focal point of an outfit), and work in more casual fabrics, like this chambray shirt. I finished the look with classic navy trousers + tortoiseshell ballet flats, and a little sparkle in the form of a statement necklace and a gold boyfriend watch (because you know I can’t resist a little accessorizing).
What I dig about this is even though I’m literally wearing an all-sequined top, I didn’t feel overdressed for a normal Tuesday at the office. And how easy is it to transition this outfit for drinks after work? Swap the flats for pumps, shed the chambray-shirt-as-jacket, and you’re ready to roll.
Braving more super cold temperatures here in Kansas City through Wednesday (ish), and then they say we could be in the 50s by Friday. Could it be? A little taste of actual spring weather? I’m more than a little pumped for this. Winter-weary doesn’t even begin describe how I currently feel.

Awesome outfit! I never would have thought you could wear sequins like this to the office, but you totally can with the shirt over it. Great idea!
Loving this look on you! Such a pretty top!
What a great outfit!
Looking gorgeous and so put-together. I love sequined stripes!
Kansans still glare at me for wearing sequins in the day. Whatever. We are fabulous and Kansans are going to have to keep up.
I love that top! There are so many different ways you can wear it!
Stay warm in Kansas City!

sequins are so fun and lovely – excited to bring them out in the daylight so they can sparkle in the sun 🙂 love that you put a denim jacket over the top to make it seem day-time casual 🙂

Love love love the sequined shirt! I love wearing sequins in the day time, it’s nice we can bring them out whenever now! I’m currently visiting the Midwest and I cannot believe how cold it is, I don’t know how you guys do it, brrrrrr!
I know I practically LIVE in my chambray denim button-up. It seriously goes with everything. I love that you added it here in order to make these sequins okay for day. Cool idea! You look gorgeous!
Absolutely love that sequin top with the denim. Such a perfect combo.
Nice! I love the idea of layering chambray over sequins to keep it daytime friendly. And love the bonus suggestions of how to transition the look for after work drinks! Cheers to that! 🙂 -Gina

Gorgeous outfit. You shine as always. And I agree sequins totally work for daytime these days. I love your Cigarette Navy Pants and the color of your lipstick – what brand and name is it? I will be giving this a try myself with one of my sequined tops.
