Jackets have the ability to completely change the vibe of an outfit. Take this really simple all-black situation, for example. Plus a cropped jacket + high-waisted denim pairing is a killer way to visually snatch that waist, in case you’re looking to cinch things in after the holidays.

A loud statement bootie doesn’t hurt when you’re looking to elevate things, either. These boots are several seasons old, but I found super similar versions here and here. (And you last saw ’em here!) I love how there’s enough of a heel to give me some height, but still comfy enough for go-anywhere, all-day wear.
What is everyone up to for the weekend? I’m kicking things off with an appearance on Better Kansas City tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. (KC pals, tune into KCTV5 if you’re around and watch!) and then off to record a podcast with local journalism legend Joel Nichols. Then Dave and I have his company’s winter event on Saturday (I have no idea what I’m wearing yet, panic!) followed by celebrating my mom’s birthday with family on Sunday. Busy weekend ahead!

I am absolutely LOVING those boots! I picked up a pair of statement booties a few weeks ago and have been wearing them non-stop. They’re such a fun accessory, aren’t they?!

Many people are of the opinion that faux fur coats are rather gaudy, but personally I happen to think that if done properly they can look fantastic.
