Cream Linen Blouse + Denim Shorts.

Not-too-short cutoffs and a cream linen blouse.

Lately, I’ve been in the mood for linen and statement sleeves (sometimes in the same outfit). Today it’s about combining those two things in this super affordable cream linen blouse and wearing it with my new fave cutoff shorts. I’m leaning into that neutral frame of mine with a snakeskin belt, cork sandals, and a pair of necklaces with a serious 70s vibe.

The sleeves of this linen blouse give the look some romance. I balanced the volume by tucking the top in these amazing denim shorts (high-waisted, a touch of stretch, and a slightly longer cut so you can wear ’em anywhere) and belting up. Heeled cork sandals lengthen everything out (dupes here) without being too high to manage. (Bless you, block heel.)

What I’m really into right now: dressing up any outfit with a pair of statement gold chains. Yes, you read that right: gold chains. I’ve had the Sierra Winter Jewelry Revival necklace for a while now (you can see it here), but recently added the Eclipse necklace to my collection. It reminded me of a necklace my Grandmother had; being a queen of the 70s and 80s, chunky gold pieces were her whole jam. Sierra’s line has so much attitude– which I’m all about– and the quality is amazing (this is jewelry that is going to turn anything green, let’s just put it that way).

I’ll be wearing this cream linen blouse over and over again this summer because it’s so lightweight and right on-trend. And these shorts? Put ’em in the heavy rotation. They’re about half the price of the Agolde ones (which I love, don’t get me wrong), and they’re every bit as flattering. Score!

    1. These shorts really are a great length- you can bend over and not worry about a cheeky situation, ha. And the stretch factor is good!

  1. Linen! I learned about its history last year — did you know it used to be the most popular and commonly-used fabric in the world for clothes?! Cotton didn’t replace it until slavery made its production cheaper.

You look so cute in this outfit. Classy yet relaxed with a real romantic vibe.

    1. I didn’t realize this- an amazing piece of history. I think learning the what and how of exactly we got to where we’re at- even on a detail so seemingly small, like your fact about cotton- is SO important in addressing the real change our society needs today. 🙂

  2. This is such an upscale, casual look, Ashley. Isn’t it funny how gold chains are coming back around? Yours look amazing. I love the styling on the top. I think the cork and snakeskin really are a nice finish. And, girl, if I had your figure I’d wear those shorts all the days! Ha!

I’m actually looking for them in different colours. Plus that snake print belts is spicy. Love that touch.

    1. The tucking was a last-minute styling decision because I wanted to add this fun belt! I think it works, too! Thanks, Carrie!
