The corset coat proves that while winter is here, it doesn’t have to be boring.

Everyone needs a ridiculous coat, right? (Right, Ashley, right.) I spotted this black corset coat at ASOS (psst, it’s on mega sale right now for under $45!) and had to have it. It was silly and super fun– plus I was very curious if a puffer coat (i.e., a known figure-swallower) flattering. Could it be done?

Indeed, yes! This corset coat (and yes, those are working corset strings; pull ’em as tight as you want!) was a great alternative to the oversized orange version I wore last week. I pulled it on with a pair of high-waisted black denim and black patent boots for an all-black, all-badass look. And, again, functional fashion: this sucker is quite warm.

Don’t mind me if I add a few more puffer jackets to the wardrobe. Oversized, cropped, hooded– I am down.  They’re cozy as can be, and with fashion-forward styling like a corset, you can be sure you’ll stand out in a crowd of basic parkas and wool peacoats. This corset coat also comes in a gorgeous bright red (with a printed corset!) and is on sale, if you really want to knock ’em dead. (It’s in my cart right now.)

  24. How cool and trendy is this coat?! I’ve been seeing the corset trend in so many forms, but not like this. This really is a unique way to do it, while keeping warm and not to mention, it cinches the waist in a piece that would otherwise conceal it.     1. I have a few coats like that- sometimes I’m totally down because I just want to wear a sleeping bag, lol, but this gives you a more flattering option!
