Bright Green + Elevated Bike Shorts for KC Homes & Style.

Wearing the color of the summer to take a pair of bike shorts to a new level.

Bike shorts are a big part of my everyday wardrobe now that I’m working from home full-time. While I usually lean into the athleisure vibe, I wanted to create an outfit to dress this short style up for the July/August issue of KC Homes & Style. I snagged these 6-inch bike shorts from Amazon and I’m so impressed by the quality. They’re seriously a dupe for the much more expensive Lululemon Align shorts.

I layered a bright, oversized button-up on top of a black crop top. Oversized anything is really on trend and a button-up adds some instant polish. Then I grabbed everything I could in this bright green family to round out this look: a pair of sandals with a lucite heel and a crossbody bag.

To work in more color, I added a turquoise necklace and ring. It’s summertime– more brights are a good thing, right? I liked the way the turquoise and bright green play together in this look.

The sandals are fun, right? They’re super 2000’s, which is apparently my vibe lately. The heel juxtaposes nicely against the shorts and really helps elevate the look. The bag is another nice touch; it’s the perfect size for taking to brunch or shopping with because you can fit your essentials inside without being weighed down by a bulky bag.

  1. You look amazing in this outfit: the green is fresh and vibrant and the bike shorts show off you lovely legs and the sandals are perfection!

  2. What a clever idea! I would have never thought to even attempt to make bike shorts more “dressy”! But, this look is fabulous. You could definitely change up the shorts to a black pencil skirt or linen shorts! Love the green and the different pops of color! And, those shoes…amazing!!!

    1. Oh yes, you’re so right- you could easily remix the bike shorts for a skirt or another short style. An oversized button-up has endless styling options! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Marsha!

  3. You knew how to juxtapose the two nice colors and green is definitely your color, lovely outfit to relax and chill out, I liked the accessories and sandals with their funny heels super cool

    1. At first I wanted the greens to match exactly, but then I kinda loved it more that they didn’t! The heels are so fun, right?

  4. I am currently only brave enough to wear my bike shorts at home, but I love how you styled this with the green and the little heel!

    1. It definitely took me a while to get used to bike shorts as part of “real” outfits and not just workout/lounge clothing! I’m so glad you like this look, Biana!

  5. Hello,
I admire all women who have the courage and boldness to wear cycling shorts, I swear I don’t see them dressed in that outfit, I admit I’m more conservative, but you, you rock this outfit!
