Pearl details to perk up a basic sweater + denim outfit.

I have really been living that neutral life lately, outfit-wise. There’s something about a tan or a beige that feels classic but also less dreary than black. An interesting feature keeps things fresh: check out the pearl details on this basic beige knit. Delicate but cool, right? (See similar versions here and here.)

This was also the perfect outfit to wear these booties. That taupe-y greige situation worked really well with the sweater. (The boot also comes in a ton of colors!) Basic denim with a nice high waist in a classic wash tied ’em both together, and a pair of Nickel & Suede earrings in a pretty, goes-with-everything vanilla shimmer added another element of sass.

The overall look is sup wearable,Β warm, and goes from casual Fridays at the office to a boozy Sunday brunch. It also plays if you don’t feel like getting all dolled up in red or pink for Valentine’s Day.

The end of January + early February is always such a drag, am I right? The holidays are over, winter seems never-ending, and you’re ready for a new season of clothing. Not necessarilyΒ new clothing, just something different to break up that jeans-and-a-sweater rotation. Can you remember what it feels like to leave your house without the requisite 3 layers, a hat, and gloves? I can’t, either. (All my southern pals who don’t get a true winter, can we come stay with you for a while to get a winter reprieve?)

The good news is with January done and dusted, we’re inching closer to making those warm-weather dreams a reality. I’m hoping for a Groundhog miracle or something in that veinβ€” c’mon, spring!

  4. You can come stay here in Florida! But I totally get it, I grew up in Connecticut and moved to the sunshine state about 10 years ago because I loathe winter (and high taxes). Loving the pearl detailing on this sweater and of course those ankle booties <3

    1. Hahaha, I know that life- although being in the middle of winter, it’s been a long time since I’ve sweat off my spray tan! It’s coming, I’m sure. KC is sooo muggy and hot in the summer!

  32. This is really cute. Easy and cute.

    I’m headed to WARM at the end of this week – visiting my daughter in San Diego! Yay. But man was it challenging to wrap my head around WARM WEATHER OUTFITS in February! I could hardly come up with anything, I was like WHAT DO I WEAR ALL SUMMER?!? Hard to switch that mindset over.

    I tried (and succeeded!) to not do the familiar “gonna buy just a few new things for the trip.” And now I’m wishing I DID have a few things, ha!

    1. Ohhh, I’m so happy for you- San Diego will feel AMAZING! But I get it- it’s so tough to get into a summer-outfitting mindset when we’ve been in winter mode for so long!

  48. Ashley, you know I love a good cozy sweater and jeans look! Super cute. The pearl detail is wonderful. And I hear you on the never-ending winter months. We are in the middle of a blizzard right now and I am just chilling at home all weekend in leggings and a cozy sweater! But I am heading south to North Carolina on Thursday for a week of warmer weather before I have to head back to New York and suffer through the rest of winter!
