Fashion remixing is my jam. Repurposing an item not only drives down the cost-per-wear, but you get bonus style points for being able to wear the same piece at the office, casually on the weekend, and dressed up for a girl’s night. Anyone can take an outfit off a mannequin and look put-together; real style is breaking those looks apart and coming up with your own versions.
The team at Tulip here in Kansas City reached out with a cool idea: take several bloggers and have them style a single item to show readers + shoppers how many different ways a piece can be worn. I love a team effort! The first item we’re styling is the The Home T, proceeds of which benefit multiple sclerosis.
I styled this super soft, slightly slouchy gray tee (I sized up to get a borrowed-from-the-boyfriend feel) with black silk shorts, classic patent pumps, and a few necklaces. (Yes, that’s a grenade.) The boyfriend fit of the tee and legs-out combo left the door open to add a blazer up top. I grabbed my one and only thrifting score: a men’s Brooks Brothers blazer. I love that it’s a little boxy (so very 90’s) and that it provided some nice contrast to the leggy look. Best $15 I’ve ever spent!
