KCFW: Gray Velvet Wrap Dress.

Kansas City Fashion Week means I break out the weirdest stuff I own.

KCFW is the perfect excuse to grab something ridiculous from my closet and throw it on for a crowd that understands + gets fashion. (Also, I don’t mind being the girl in the room wearing the weirdest outfit.) Velvet is everywhere this fall, so I took the opportunity to break out a very 70’s gray velvet wrap dress from Zara. Hello, the opportunity to wear what is basically a gray velvet robe to fashion week? Yeah, I’ll play.

I wanted a non-dainty statement shoe, so I chose pointed toe boots with a block heel over a classic pump/strappy sandal. The black leather boots meant a black leather motorcycle jacket only made sense. I kept the accessories really dainty + in the rose gold family with a long lariat from Gorjana and a smattering of rings.

I think this velvet wrap dress will come in handy during the holiday season. What a fun party dress, right? If it’s super cold outside, I could layer a black turtleneck under the dress or grab a blazer to throw on top. While I like the boot choice, a jewel tone pump would also be really pretty with the gray velvet. Tons of styling options, despite the dress being a bit different than other pieces in my closet.

Check back this weekend; I’m giving you a rundown of all the collections I viewed at KCFW on Extra LSR!

  2. I love this look on you, Ashley, and I noticed right away that the dress was unlike other pieces I have seen you wearing. I love it with those boots, and it looks both comfortable AND sexy. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing what you gathered at KCFW! Have a great weekend! XO
