Orange slides punch up a basic summer outfit.
White for summer is a no-brainer. So how to keep it feeling fresh? I keep switching up fabrics; earlier this week it was lace and today it’s eyelet. I also add quick punches of color– like this pair of cool orange slides or a bright tassel earring, for example– to provide some fun contrast against the white.
Speaking of contrast, I really like the way a classically feminine fabric like eyelet works with something a bit rougher– like these denim cutoffs. I scored these at American Eagle and love ’em because they are high-waisted (bless!) and have a ton of stretch. With the heat being as oppressive as it’s been lately in KC, stretchy denim is preferred over heavier retro non-stretch.

I can guarantee you’ll be seeing these orange slides again. They add some polish (and length!) to cutoffs, but they will also be perfect with skinny jeans, skirts, dresses, and cigarette trousers– aka everything in your closet. And they’re under $35! If heeled mules aren’t your thing, I love these flat versions (and I have them in that pretty deep green).
