The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is baaaack!

Update: the first round of my #NSale purchases are up (with links to shop) on my Insta highlights; go check ’em out. I give you sizing, how it fits, etc.

Prepare yourselves, fashion friends. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is going to dominate your feeds from now until the beginning of August. Why so extra? Because the NSale is the place to find fall + winter items (plus a few pieces you can totally rock right now) at a crazy discount. (Sometimes stuff is nearly 50% off!) A sale before a season officially starts? I’m listening.

Extra LSR: NSale 2018. | Ashley from LSREarly access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today. If you’re a Nordstrom cardholder (either Visa or debit), you get to shop the sale before the general public– which increases your odds of scoring pieces before they sell out. (Spoiler alert: stuff sells out, fast. And while they usually restock when the public sale opens, not everything gets restocked.) If you’ve shopped the sale before, you know how this goes.

If you’re not familiar, here are my #NSale tips:

  • Buy now, wear later: fall clothing + shoes. Denim, boots and booties, sweaters, jackets, fall-friendly dresses– all of these can be found in the NSale. I know, it seems odd to be buying chunky sweaters and tall boots in the heat of July, but buying now means you will have it in your closet come October (and you’ll have scored it on major sale).
  • Buy now, wear now: accessories, beauty buys, and athleisure pieces. If you want to add some pieces to your cart that you can wear right-this-second, check the accessories section for handbags, jewelry, watches, and hats. Beauty is a year-round necessity, and there are some awesome scores during the Anniversary Sale. And do not sleep on the athleisure offerings– that is usually my first stop during the NSale because you can get sneakers, leggings, cute workout looks, and lounge-type pieces on the cheap.
  • The sale is open to Nordstrom cardholders (debit and/or credit) from July 12th – July 19th. Shop early, score often. Early access is key because once pieces sell out, they’re gone until after the sale. (And sometimes they never get restocked– like that camel + striped Topshop cardigan I missed out on and still have dreams about.)
  • Unsure about a piece? Buy it anyway because the Nordie’s return policy is amazing. It’s hassle-free, no questions asked. So if you’re on the fence about something, buy it! Snag an item in several sizes if you’re not sure which size you need. You can absolutely return it for a full refund later– and Nordie’s offers free shipping and free returns, whew.
  • The sale opens to the public on July 20th through August 5th. On August 6th, all the prices go up.

Absolute Must-haves.

I always hit the Zella section of the NSale first thing– Zella is Nordstrom’s fitness line, and it’s quite simply legit. Sneakers are another must-shop; you can find some gems that are sure to be the next best thing in athleisure for up to 30% off.

You remember these leggings from the Montana post, right? A 2017 NSale score that immediately sold out. I also snagged these blush adidas sneakers and a new pair of these life-changing Spanx.

The Zella picks I’m loving this year:

Zella. These leggings are very similar to the color block pair I have; I grabbed these and the black versions because I’m a firm believer you can’t have too many pairs of leggings. I also love these bright red leggings, these black moto versions, and this cropped tank (I snagged it in blush). These floral leggings will sell out, for sure. Get the matching bra while you’re at it. This oversized anorak is dope– such a cool statement piece. This wrap sweater is too cool, and will work post-yoga and with a pair of skinny jeans.

Sneakers. All of these sneakers are under $100! Love in both the classic black and the cool beige. And I scored during last year’s sale. I love these Nike’s, too. Totally down for the smoky rose color of these sneakers, and these simple-but-chic dove gray versions. These black and white marled Puma’s are really on-trend and under $55.

Spanx. The faux leather leggings are a game-changer, and this year the NSale is offering a cute moto version. They also have a black-on-matte-black camo version. Spanx leggings last forever, hold everything in, and will carry you from fall to spring.

Jacket time! Who doesn’t like to add a jacket or two to her fall wardrobe? The Anniversary Sale has come through for me in the past with some killer jackets on deep discount.

This suede jacket is such a jam- here is this year’s version. And how fun is this faux leather embroidered number? A closet staple.

The best of jackets + outerwear this year:

Blank NYC. The suede jacket you’ll be seeing everywhere comes in a deep olive and a rich burgundy. Both are so good. There’s also a faux leather hooded jacket that comes in 3 colors and is under $65. (I would snag the evergreen color!) I can speak to the quality of Blank’s faux leather– it’s legit, guys.

Cozy Chic. This Thread & Supply jacket is so soft and will be amazing come fall. Bonus: there’s a pullover version. I picked up this faux fur midi coat; that rich color is going to be fun to wear! This shearling moto is bomb; another really sick fall shade. Did someone say lavender faux fur with stars? Yes, please. And more lavender, this time in the form of a snuggly oversized bouclé jacket. This Patagonia is $50 off for the NSale and comes in 5 different colors. Looking for leopard? Got you, girl.

Cold-weather Musts. This JCrew coat comes in a ton of colors and is totally timeless. Speaking of timeless, this is a great price point if you don’t have a trench coat in your closet. A wool wrap coat is a pretty coat to have once the seasons turn; this will look so chic with skinny jeans + tall boots. If you like that bold plaid coat I wear every winter, you’ll love this one. I am digging everything about this deep camel coat, too, and am pretty much obsessed with this black leather jacket with red shearling trim. Also drooling over this bright red faux moto. This is a good buy if you need a utility jacket (I have one and it comes in super handy not just in the fall, but for summer layering and I always bring it with me on trips). And if you need a classic leather jacket, Topshop has a killer one.

I know, you don’t want to think about cozy cashmere or anything with sleeves right now when the July sun is beating down and frying everything to a crisp– but these are pieces that you will love once fall hits, and scoring them now means saving so much cash.

I am an instant gratification girl, so you know I have to buy a few things that I can wear right-this-second. The #NSale came through this year with a ton of pieces that you can debut now (that pink blazer is good for the office, no?), and then earmark for fall styling come September.

And don’t forget jeans! You can wear jeans all year round, after all. There are so many great pairs on sale this year, including that amazing high-waisted Madewell pair I’ve been totally in love with.

Just give me all the athleisure pieces and no one gets hurt. Great for working out (obviously), but the trend has also made these pieces great for running errands, casual get-togethers, and part of more avant garde styling. Most of my order this year is activewear, for real.
