Tan and White Sweater + Nude Crystal Kitten Heels.

A pair of pretty nude crystal kitten heels to jazz up some slouchy jeans.

I’ve been all about brights the past few posts (exhibits A and B), but today I’m getting back to my neutral roots. A soft sweater with a tan and white chevron stripe worn over slouchy jeans made for a cozy choice, but the real style star in this outfit is this pair of crystal kitten heels.

My last post featured a pair of super affordable slingbacks and these nude heels are from the same spot and ring in at under $35. Yes, please! They play so well with the rough hem of the jeans and that heel is beyond manageable.

Making a comeback in this outfit? The statement necklace. And I mean statement necklace à la 2012 when we all wore glorified bedazzled breastplates as necklaces. This necklace last saw the light of the blog in 2017– talk about a throwback! Old house, old hair… If anyone ever accuses me of contributing to fast fashion, my answer is that while I certainly consume it, I also wear the pieces forever. I still have that fringe camel coat and pumps, speaking of.

The Adults Aren't Alright Season 1, Episode 5: Divorce is a Lifestyle.Episode 5 of The Adults Aren’t Alright: Divorce is a Lifestyle.

Divorce is a common occurrence but so many of us shy away from talking about it once the assets are split the case is final. Why? Why should we be ashamed to talk about something that affects so many of us?

That changes today, when my pal Jared Dunn joins me on the pod for an honest, refreshing convo about deciding that happily ever after = leaving a marriage. I parts of share my (very! different!) divorce experience, too.

We hit on another common adult experience: hating your job. What do you do when you’re in a role (or industry) that no longer aligns? Jared and I talk it out. You can listen right here or on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google.

  1. I’m try to be the same with fast fashion! I have so many of my statement necklaces still and still wear them sometimes. Their shine is irresistible sometimes! Love that fab sweater and shoes too!

  2. I LOVE it that you keep things around and don’t purge them, like that necklace Ashley. I used to get rid of things all the time, but it’s fun to play with all decades of style. Besides everything totally comes around again,

    1. Everything DOES come back around again- I’ve got Doc Marten’s coming in the post this week and I’m kicking myself for getting rid of my Docs that I had in middle school. So I’m trying to be savvier with what I purge, for sure, haha!

  3. I’ll have to listen to your podcast. I was divorced over a decade ago and have been remarried happily for 9 years now. And, I honestly do not like to talk about it! Lol! This sweater is sooo something I’d wear. I love the coziness factor and colors… those kitten heels are SO cute with the embellishments.

    1. Well you can listen to my friend and I talk about divorce so you don’t have to, haha! I totally get it- and we’re very conditioned by society to just move on from it as quickly as possible. The biggest and best thing is that you’re happy now!

  4. Hi
I also love vibrant colors but I also like a neutral color look and yours is really pretty! I especially like the shoes because since I broke my foot that kind of footwear is forbidden for me, so I envy you Ashley!
