A rainbow maxi dress to send off summer.

Well, sending off metaphorical summer, that is. Even though September is right around the corner and all the signature fall signals are popping up, Kansas City is going to feel like summer for another month or so. Like I said last week, I’m milking my bright summer closet for all it’s worth and today we’re hitting every color possible in this rainbow maxi dress.

This is probably the girliest piece of clothing I own. My style isn’t normally cutesy or super feminine; I prefer edgy elements and looks that weave in feminine instead of focusing on it. This dress breaks that style standard, for sure. I loved the ombre rainbow, the tiered skirt, and the off-the-shoulder feature. Plus, it’s loud! Pastel this dress is not.

I kept the jewelry lightweight and dainty (as per my usual) and the sandals studded. (The same sandals from last week; these are super old but you can score an almost exact version here.)

    And, NO, I repeat, NO, we are NOT sending summer off yet, we’re NOT. Although I did just drive-thru Starbucks and all the pumpkinny drinks are out already, gah, STOBBIT!!!

  8. Now this dress is the way to enjoy summer. And by golly, why is it that everyone is starting to push fall?? It’s summer here until October, haha. But I’m no different on the blog. Because it’s what people think with the back to school.

    1. I am all about stretching the summer season because even though I love fall clothes, I get tired of them by like December if I start wearing fall outfits too soon!

    1. I am totally with you! Plus when we bring out the fall clothes too early, we get tired of them by winter and then we’re stuck feeling blah about our wardrobes until spring.

  24. Yes this dress isn’t your normal style but, boy, it’s fun. Girly is never wrong in my opinion. Its bright colors are appropriate for late-Summer. Fashion has room for all kinds of experiments including this one.

  48. This dress is everything! I am obsessed with the colors and the ruffle top. It is absolutely a gorgeous piece. I am not ready for summer to be over. It flew by this year and as much as I want to welcome fall with open arms, I am still savoring the last 20 days of summer.
