A big thank you to everyone who read + commented on last week’s post. Even though it’s awful we’re all held to these unrealistic beauty standards, it’s comforting to know that we all slog through those hard body image times. Solidarity! I appreciate all the love and the willingness to share your experiences– so thank you again! Now let’s get into today’s outfit post featuring this striped maxi dress.

August is always a hot, humid mess in Kansas City. It’s also the last chance to wear all the super bright, super breezy summery things before fall fashion starts to creep into the wardrobe. Today I’ve got on this striped maxi dress with a fun handkerchief hem. Lightweight is the name of the game this time of year, so the gauzy material of this dress is perfect if you’re going with a longer length. I’m digging the beach blanket-esque stripe, too.

I pulled out these white studded sandals (last seen in 2018!) to add a little attitude and went minimal on the accessories because it was too hot for heavy jewelry. A dainty Kendra Scott necklace, my grandma’s tennis bracelet (almost exact right here), a few rings, and we called it good to go.

The next few weeks are all about cramming in as many summer things as possible. KC won’t really feel like fall until at least mid-September, but I’ll likely start getting in that fall mood after Labor Day and will start putting together some transition outfits. Until then, let’s enjoy those bright summer ‘fits!

  1. This is such a beautiful dress! It’s similar here in NJ it won’t really feel like fall until late Sept if even that soon. There have def been times when I go pumpkin or apple picking and it still feels like summer!

  2. I agree with what you said, this striped skirt is really good-looking, and it’s only August this time. Even if you buy it now, you can wear it for a long time. One final word: the shoes are awesome!

  3. Beautiful dress and beautiful website! I found you from Anything Goes link party.

I like the vibes on your website and Instagram very much!
