You heard it right, kids, I’m launching a podcast! The Adults Aren’t Alright is all about that weird tightrope you walk where yes, you’re adult because you’re clearly old enough– but yet you don’t feel like an adult. After a few years of marinating on this, chatting about it with friends, and discovering they feel the same way, I’ve decided to hit record and launch a podcast about it. You can find all the details below, including where you can listen to the trailer. In the meantime, let’s talk remixing last week’s satin suit with a hunter green jumpsuit for a fancy look fit to celebrate this new project.

Believe it or not, I’ve never worn this jumpsuit despite having it for years. (I know, I know.) I scored it on the clearance rack at a boutique ages ago, earmarking it as a 70s-esque glam piece perfect for the holidays… and then I never actually put that plan into action. (COVID, et al.)

So when I was combing my closet creating looks for the holiday season, I pulled this jumpsuit from the hanger, determined to work it into the mix. That satin blazer from last week came in handy for a quick and easy remix. (Told you I’d break that suit apart!)

I loved the way the jumpsuit and blazer worked together– but quickly realized the jumpsuit’s hem was way too long for my short lil’ legs. (I probably had this jumpsuit socked away for so long because I initially meant to have it tailored and never got around to it.) Wearing the highest shoes I own here– a pair of 6-inch platform sandals– and they still just barely keep this jumpsuit from dragging on the ground.

Mile-high shoes notwithstanding, this outfit is really comfortable. The jumpsuit is plenty stretchy and breezy, and the oversized blazer isn’t going to suffocate you when that champagne flush kicks in. I love the Studio 54 vibe, too!

Let’s chat podcast details. New episodes drop weekly starting next Wednesday, January 5. The goal? To start bringing light to the feelings I think a lot of us “adults” are grappling with but don’t necessarily talk much about. We’re also looking at these issues through a Millennial lens, putting what shapes this crop of 30-somethings under a microscope.

Episode length varies by topic and whether it’s a solo episode or features a guest, but you can expect a wide range of topics, including:

  • navigating divorce;
  • trying to rectify the adulthood we were sold as kids with the reality of today’s financial challenges;
  • influencer culture (you guys are gonna love that episode);
  • balancing being a mom and preserving your identity;
  • and more!

  30. So cool! And lovely to hear your voice after just reading your blog for years. 🙂

    And yeah, when I was high-school, I definitely saw my teachers as adults who knew everything.. and they were probably in their 30’s and 40’s.

    Now *I* am a teacher in my 40’s and while I’m definitely older and more experienced than e.g. my students, I also most definitely don’t feel like I’m “that together”; the way that I saw my parents and teachers.

    So weird!
