Olsen Twin Chic: Retro Jumpsuit with Kindred Shops.

Getting a little weird in this cool retro jumpsuit.

*This post is in partnership with Kindred Shops; as always, thoughts + opinions are my own.

I love weird fashion– it’s right there in my bio. I love taking something that on the hanger looks too odd, tricky, or just plain dumb and making it work. Fashion should be fun, and this sort of style experimentation is really fun for me. So during my last pull at local fave Kindred Shops, I gravitated toward this chartreuse retro jumpsuit from Brooke & Sloan. It seemed like someone an Olsen twin would wear on a red carpet; super voluminous to the point of being potentially unflattering and in the quirky color most wouldn’t immediately grab. YES. Challenge accepted!

I hauled this jumpsuit into the dressing room knowing it was going to be hit or miss. Excuse me, it’s a hit. The volume, the shapelessness, the extreme slouch– it’s all very intentional and you have to lean into it. The little bow in the back worked nicely to reign in some of that volume at the chest and add a sweet factor to all that chartreuse savory goodness. The sueded silk fabric is a dream, too. So soft!

Since winter has been hanging around, I knew I would need to style this for colder weather. How? A black turtleneck (always!) and black booties. These timeless elements bookended the retro jumpsuit nicely, while also making it possible for this very spring-into-summer piece to transition much earlier.

I just love the extreme volume; it makes wearing this jumpsuit very similar to throwing on a muumuu. (Which, by the way, are not just for meemaws. Muumuus are cool af.) Am I hiding food baby (or actual baby) under here? A case of wine? A basket of puppies? Who knows?! That’s the best part.

While I’m not usually drawn to chartreuse, I like stepping out of my usual color palette and giving new hues a spin. This green will play nicely with a (spray) tan come summer. I’m picturing it san turtleneck, with dainty layered chokers, and a flat t-strap sandal. Hi, I’m here for all the summer barbecues, thanks for having me.

Mark those calendars, Kansas City! I’ll be hosting a girl’s night out at the Legends Off Broadway Shoes location this Thursday (3/21) from 5-7 p.m. A red carpet, drinks and apps, and all the cute spring shoes. Stop by and see me!

  4. Hah! I love that… weird fashion! Yes, but weird fashion or just stepping out of the box can be so fun and rewarding! This outfit looks comfy, chic and I love that pop of color on these (still) dreary days until we get some sun!!
