Long Cardigan + Patent Loafers.

Shoe trend for spring? 90s heeled loafers.

You heard it here first: those patent leather heeled loafers from the 90s are back! They were all over the spring and summer runways, but I snagged a pair now. (You can, too, and on sale.) Because loafers invoke such a buttoned-up + demure vibe, I immediately wanted to style them with something a little bit sexy. Hello there, silky bodysuit!

High-waisted Levi’s (which have been on repeat here as of late) and a matching long cardigan made this look late-February appropriate. The duster-length cardigan is years and years old from Forever21, but I found an almost exact version here (also on sale). All the elements came together for an elevated-but-still-wearable neutral look, which was perfect for a dinner party at a pal’s house.

I love these loafers right now with denim; they could also work with tights and a sweater dress. Come full-blown spring, they’ll add a schoolgirl edge to bouncy knee-length dresses. In July and August, I really like the idea of an oversized white shirt, cutoff shorts, and these loafers. (Similar to my approach here, just swap out the neon sandal for these patent bad boys.)

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Winter seems to have its grip on KC; we’ll spend a week or so in a deep freeze, get a little reprieve with spring-esque temps for a day or two, then we’ll plunge right back down into the teens. Oy. I know, I know. Spring doesn’t come until late March– but still! I am ready. Bring on a new season, please and thank you.
