Welcome to Humidity City, aka Kansas City in the summertime. As much as I love the season, it can get downright unbearable when that heat index soars and the humidity is so high you can barely breathe. How does a girl stay stylish? Lemon palm print, for short.

This outfit is featured in the July/August issue of Kansas City Homes & Style and it all starts with a warm-weather print. What’s more summery than a lemon palm print? This camisole and pair of shorts didn’t actually come together as a set, but the prints vibed so well together they work worn as a unit, too.

I added some interest to this summertime look with gold jewelry and a pair of super seasonal shoes. I chose to layer a few necklaces from Sierra Winter Jewelry (also seen here). These sandals feature a woven strap and have a very-easy-to-navigate block heel (love these and these).

I added a blazer over the top for when you transition from the blazing hot outdoors to the chilly air-conditioned shops and offices (masked up, of course). Slip it on and off as needed.

Finally: make sure the fabric(s) you choose lightweight and breathable. Think linen, cotton, or rayon. The cami and blazer here are linen and the shorts are rayon, for example.

A big win with an outfit like this is all the pieces break apart seamlessly to create different looks. The camisole will be killer with a pair of Levi’s and sneakers, while the shorts will work with a lightweight sweater or a chambray button-up for cool summer nights. That blazer easily goes to the office with a pair of wide-leg culotte trouser and heels. So many options!

    1. These are actually two pieces- I just tucked the cami into the shorts to give it that romper vibe! 🙂 I am such a sucker for a print like this, too! Thanks, Mireille!

  1. I definitely thought this was a romper, but I love that it’s a set! The blazer is also a really stylish addition. I do not deal with humidity very well, so I’m glad to live in a dry-heat place, haha.

    1. Dry heat makes ALL the difference- like your temps can be super high, but somehow the heat isn’t unbearable or oppressive. Amazing!

  2. I love this outfit! Hard to imagine the pieces didn’t come together. They are meant to be worn like this. I can’t remember the last time weather was so hot, this kind of outfit is a necessity for summer.

    1. They are super similar, but the cami doesn’t actually have the lemon print, just the palm- however, I thought they totally made sense worn as a set! Thank you for swinging by, sweet friend!

  3. I honestly love this outfit. I’m yet to own any lemon print clothing items in my collection and that’s something I need to change. The outfit looks so sophisticated with the blazer too

  4. I love that set! They look amazing together but the thought of making more outfits by just wearing one of the pieces makes it that much better.
