Graphic Dress + Tall Black Boots.

Taking an 80’s style graphic dress for a spring spin.

I’ve been intentional about not diving into sandals too quickly and instead making a conscious effort to wear my tall boots into spring. They’re a nice contrast against short dresses and pull double duty to keep the legs warm on those cooler April days. Today’s combo is this oversized graphic dress and a pair of classic block heel black boots.

I was immediately drawn to the vibrant print of this shirt dress– it felt super 80s and reminded me of the apartment in Three Men and a Baby. Already an oversized fit, I bought it a size up to really maximize the slouch. The 80s was all about volume, after all. What makes this graphic dress even more of a find? It’s under $20.

I wanted to anchor this dress in an in-between season, so I played up the black elements. Tall black boots with a bit of structured slouch were the perfect shoe choice to achieve this. I added a sassy black bag (you can get the exact one here in gray or even bright blue) with a tough chain feature to further drive this point home.

Open over a pair of cutoff shorts and a fitted tank or as the coolest swimsuit coverup you ever did see.Β  It’s lightweight, which means it’ll stay super breezy even as spring turns into summer. Roll up the sleeves with a few loose cuffs and tie the hem up around the waist, turning this dress into a super voluminous blouse.

    1. Boots and short dresses are such a good workaround for cooler spring days- you can dress like spring without freezing!

  1. Just fabulous Ashley ! Love the abstract dress, and a good reminder of how long boots also look great with dresses in spring. Thanks for linking.

  2. Awe, I loved that movie Three Men and a Baby and this totally does making me think of that opening credits where they are painting the walls of the baby’s room. I actually loved that so much that we painted by hand baby disney characters when I was expecting our first child.

Anyway, love the outfit and yes to playing with boots for spring. I’ve been doing that as well!
