Black jeans with an oversized faux leather blazer.

90s fashion doesn’t quit… at least not in my closet. I spotted this oversized faux leather blazer at Zara (.com, because who goes into physical stores these days?) and knew it was an add-to-cart situation for me. (Plus it was under $70, so hey, let’s do this.) It’s this very wearable blushy-taupe color, and the oversized fit makes it perfect over everything from a camisole (like I’m wearing here) to over sweaters when it cools down.
I grabbed a pair of old (we’re talking 2014, folks) Topshop jeans from the archives to wear with this. Well, I was mainly curious if these would even fit… Bless stretchy denim! I wanted a black wash and a busted knee, and these high-waisted Jamie jeans didn’t disappoint. (They’re still in the current Topshop lineup; get ’em here and here.)
Another 90s trend, the black patent heeled loafer, adds polish to this look and balances out those busted knees. (I last wore ’em here.) I accessorized with those gold hoops and the gold chain necklace I’ve been wearing on repeat lately. Both pieces are super lightweight– a big plus! Even the hoops; they only look heavy. I don’t know about you, but heavy earrings just aren’t comfortable after about 5 minutes, and I’m also wary of stretching out my earlobes. (Seriously.) Light jewelry all the way!

I plan on throwing this faux leather blazer over sweater dresses and boots later this fall, and it will definitely be in the rotation when (if?) we ever return to a normal office environment. For now, it’s nice to play dress-up on my porch now and again to break up all those jogger-based outfits I’m usually wearing.
Speaking of jogging (or running, rather), this weekend is Dave’s 100-mile race! We’re really excited. Well– I’m excited and he’s just ready to get the show on the road. Months and months of training has built up to one 24-hour race. I know he’s looking forward to checking this one off his bucket list. I’m sure I’ll be over on Insta stories documenting the adventure if you want to follow along.

HI Ashley!
I LOVE your jacket, great color! I bought a black faux leather blazer and have my eye on more of a cognac one. Looks great with the distressed jeans. The blazers are hot this year

What a fun mix of textures! I like how the oversized blazer is a neutral colour but still makes a statement with the material and the oversized style! 🙂

I am really into the tailored looks right now, I don’t yet have anything in leather, I’m going to have to add this to the wish list!
Gorgeous as always!
