Extra LSR: National Blowout Day with Beauty Brands.

Blowouts all around for killer hair.

Happy National Blowout Day, pals!

While my everyday style is beachy, roughed-up waves via air-drying, I love a good blowout to mix things up. A blowout is absolutely necessary when I’ve got a TV appearance on the schedule– maximum polish for TV, always. I also love a blowout in advance of events like weddings, Kansas City Fashion week, birthday celebrations, big nights on the town, etc.  But sometimes I’ll get a blowout because I just feel like it– a blowout makes me feel good! Having a professional stylist tackle the washing + styling of your tresses is like a spa treatment– just doll me up and send me on my way, please and thank you.

Never underestimate the power of really good hair.

I swung by Beauty Brands recently to get a blowout from my stylist, Steph. You gotta call in the pros for jobs like these! (Steph knows how to handle this mane!) I had a packed weekend ahead of me, and a blowout meant my hair would look killer all weekend long– no washing or re-styling required.

Blowouts were designed to maintain healthy, styled hair between haircuts and colors. Because you are in the hands of a capable hair stylist, you know your hair is being heat-styled the right way with thermal products to protect and pro techniques that style your hair without damaging. (Bonus: no achy, tired arms from attempting to dry + curl the hair at the back of your head!)

In the chair + ready to rock and roll.

I can stretch a blowout well into day 4-almost-5 with the right combination of dry shampoo (I hoard this brand) for the roots and this oil to hydrate those ends. Walking out of the house each morning only looking like I spent 45 minutes styling my hair? I am here for that; more snooze button presses for me! And because blowouts last so long, it means less time under the dryer + curling iron– which equals healthier, happier hair.

More ways to stretch your blowout:

  • Dry shampoo like a boss. I mentioned this above, but I’ll spray in a little dry shampoo before bed, in the morning, and before and after a workout– this prevents oil buildup, which keeps my blowout looking fly.
  • Sleep on a satin pillowcase. This is not only great for preventing tangles that ruin your silky smooth tresses, but a satin pillowcase is better for you skin because it helps prevent wrinkles. (Bless!) Here’s the one I use; it comes in a ton of colors + is under $20.
  • No-dent hair ties are your bf. I use those cool new cord bands, like these from Invisibobble, to keep my ponytails from leaving dents. Comes in so handy at the gym!
  • Fight that summer humidity. It’s the biggest homewrecker when it comes to blowouts! Using an anti-humidity spray a few days post-blowout (or even on day 2 if it’s super muggy outside) will help keep things frizz free.

One of the reasons we love going to the salon to get our hair done is that feeling you get walking out: like a mini-makeover! A shot of confidence. Your hair is on point, therefore you’re ready to tackle life. A blowout gives a similar feeling: I walk out with fresh, shiny hair and a major boss vibe.

Another tip: I get a blowout from Beauty Brands either right before leaving for vacation, or as soon as my hair needs washing once I’m in whatever city I’m vacationing in. This means I don’t have to travel with a ton of styling products– the salon will have the shampoo, conditioner, stylist tools, and products on hand. My suitcase space is maximized and I don’t have to worry about great hair (so key, because you’re snapping all the photos when you’re on holiday). I snag travel sizes of my favorite refreshers, like this dry shampoo and this argan oil, and I’m set. With any luck, I won’t have to wash my hair at all on vacay!

  1. I have been hearing so much about Beauty Brands lately. Your blow out looks GREAT! I have naturally curly hair and I love a good blow out that tames my locks! I really need to get on the satin pillow band wagon still!

  2. I never understood exactly what a blowout was, I’m still not sure. They just blow dry your hair and it lasts for 4 or 5 days? Whatever they do, your hair is gorgeous! I wish I could make my hair look as good as it does when I leave a salon. But I can never style it like my stylist can.

    1. Yes! The pro’s know the exact tools, products, and methods to get that style to STAY PUT. And then all you need to do to make it last is rely on dry shampoo!

  3. Your hair looks lovely! I wish that I had time for something like this, a pamper session is always a good idea! 🙂

Hope you are having a nice weekend! 🙂 It’s a busy one here, lots of rushing around, but also some family time which is nice 🙂

    1. I can’t resist a good blowout- this one has lasted WELL over a week, haha!

Enjoy that family time, babe! Happy Sunday!

  4. I wish I could get my blowouts to last that long, but I’m always a mess by the second day. I have a silk pillow case, but even though I LOVE it, I’ve never felt like it’s made a difference for my skin or hair.
I’m going to try the humidity shield though!

    1. I feel like from a skin perspective, you’re not going to notice until you’re like 75 and not as wrinkly as your non-silk pillowcase pals, haha!
