Extra LSR: Kansas City Fashion Week F/W 2018.

Sharing my shots from the shows at KCFW Saturday night.

The finale night of Kansas City Fashion Week! Time to turn up, turn out, and charge those cell phone + DSLR batteries. KCFW awaits!

You saw the kickoff party at Kindred and details on what I wore, but now it’s time to dig into all that runway action. I started by meeting up with Brina (of giggleCHAMP) and Cait (of SophistiCAITed) to shoot + grab dinner.

KC has been doing this insane winter-spring tug of war, and the Saturday finale happened to fall on one of those days that started out in the 50s and quickly plummeted into the upper 30s, with plenty of blustery wind to boot. (Great time to wear a gingham mini skirt, don’t you know?) Even though shooting was miserable, we powered through (and avoided frostbite) before heading into Rockhill Grille.

Freezing, but make it FASHION.

Guinness was my only alcohol choice, as my Jayhawks were playing in the Final Four that night (which I missed for KCFW, which should tell you how much I love KCFW). The short story: I had Guinness, black + tans, and Reuben pizza when the Hawks won in the first round, so that became the required Superstitious Game Day Food. It looked a wee bit out of place next to the girls’ bubbly.

One of these things is different…

This is dedication to the cause, people.

We arrived just in time for the doors to open at The Grand Hall, leaving plenty of time to find our seats, grab drinks, and mingle with pals. And, you know, take your standard bathroom selfie.

As my pal Steph put it: “I want to be part of this band.” Ah, bless.

With my babes, all ready to go!

The first show was Lucia’s Sarto by Nataliya Meyer, a perennial LSR fave. The attention to detail is always spot-on, and I love the super feminine looks Nataliya sends down the runway.

The loveliest train and a sassy ice blue number.

Things then took a turn for the bridal… Holy bridal bodysuit!

Speaking of bridal, My Heirloom sent a beautiful collection down the runway.

Boss babe meets Victorian chic at My Heirloom.

I loved the offbeat bridal looks My Heirloom presented first: perfect for those wedding-adjacent events like showers, bachelorette bashes, engagement parties, etc. That cold-shoulder jumpsuit would work just about anywhere where you’re getting dressed up and want to make a statement, and the layered black skirt + cream silk combo was both strong and lovely.

That cap little sleeve on the left, though! And the finale dress with designer Jill Lapping celebrating the end of her show.

So much Victorian romance!

Next came my favorite presentation of the night: TR Brown. The retro vibes were so on point, but the collection still felt fresh. I need just about everything in this first look: ribbed car coat, leather shorts, a fluffy sweater, and nude fishnet stockings? Yes, I am so damn game.

This entire look needs to be my Early Fall 2018 Uniform.

I’m adding a shiny pleated capri jumpsuit to my wishlist.

Everything at TR Brown was so well done, and I loved the styling choice of clear aviators + French twist to invoke more of that retro spin and also work in some cohesion from look to look. All the use of texture was perfect: fur, leather, corduroy, I could not get enough.

Sara Kahrs kept the throwback vibes coming with her collection. I loved all the red-based plaid and those cool fleece jackets.

The final show of the night was jewelry collection HER by Georgina Herrera. Statement pieces for days.

HER by Georgina Herrera gave us gorgeous collars and tiled gold crops tops.

Kansas City Fashion Week has come to a close! Always sad to see it go, but it’s such a fun time to get inspired and take in all that talent. Congrats to the KCFW team and, as always, a big thank you for having me as part of the media team!
