Extra LSR: Boulevardia 2019.

Another round of Boulevardia with pals.

We’ve been hitting up Boulevardia each June for several years now. It’s a 2-day festival run by the Boulevard Brewing Company (located here in Kansas City) and has become quite the summer staple. Lots of different beers (and even some wine + canned cocktails this year), music, a row of yummy food trucks, a market to shop local vendors, and some carnival rides (including a Ferris wheel), all in the historic Stockyards District in KC.

A view from our table. Blue skies and a breeze!

Festivals in KC are always tricky because you’re at the mercy of mother nature. Will it be 95 degrees and super muggy? (Last year was.) Will it storm and dump a bunch of rain on the event? (Boulevardia is rain or shine, so a poncho is a must if it’s going to rain.)

Kicking off #blvdia!

This year we totally lucked out: it was rainy and cool all day long, and then the sun popped out around 3:00, just in time for us to head downtown a few hours later. The skies cleared, the humidity was low, and the weather was just plain gorgeous for an evening outside.

With my girls!

We splashed out for VIP tickets, which meant a whole section of picnic tables, long cocktail tables, and outdoor furniture to lounge on with a great view of the stage. We also had our own bar; a VIP ticket got you 3 drink passes (after that, drinks were $5-8 a pop).

There was a tarot card reader I was interested in hitting up, so the girls and I jetted out into the market for a bit to shop + get in the tarot queue.

My reading was really interestingโ€“ basically, there’s lots of change and transformation coming, if I’m ready for it. Lots of talk around career (including this little ol’ blog) and where I should focus future efforts. It gave me a little something to think aboutโ€“ and was fun!

A little inside joke from last year when Lauren and Aaron didn’t have VIP- until we got ’em in. Before that, it was talking and taking selfies over this fence.

After swinging through a few shops (where I scored some new vintage pieces!), we linked back up with the boys in time to catch a few of the bigger acts toward the end of the nightโ€“ Fitz and the Tantrums and Young the Giant both put on great sets!

Now it was time toย dance, and dance we did. This somehow ended up in my best friend’s husband, Aaron, picking me up and swinging me around. And I was very concerned with flashing everyone my bum, clearly.

Such a great night with good friends! Boulevardia is always a blast and I’m so glad we went again this year.

The next day, I had to break in my new vintage blouse. Those are anchors and sailboats, and I’m pretty sure this is a little boy’s shirt from 1989.

  1. What a fun festival you cutie pie! Looks like you guys were having a blast, I love the little video of you and your friends hair blowing. So fun

  2. That festival looks so fun! Here on Long Island we have carnivals, with rides, games, cotton candy…and then there are beer fests, with, obviously, beer (ha) and food trucks. But this looked like it combined all the best of both of both things!

  4. You did luck out with the weather. The weather in KC sounds like the weather in NY. And your own bar? Wow. Got to love a tarot card reading, though I must say every reading I have ever had has mentioned changed and or transformation. Haha seems to the psychic mantra.

You guys looked like you had a great time and love your pix!

    1. The weather can be totally mercurial here in KC- I’m sure you can relate! We were lucky to get the festival in between rain storms. ๐Ÿ™‚ And isn’t tarot fascinating? I loved it!

  5. It seems you had a great time at the festival. Lovely outfits. I really like the white dress you wore. The outfit with the shorts and the red shirt is very cute as well.
