Crimson and Blue for Brunch.

When my team makes the Final Four, I break out the crimson and blue.

If you’ve been around long enough (or you take a closer look at my Instagram name), you know that I’m a Jayhawk, through and through. I bleed crimson and blue. This means March is devoted to bracketology, Irish car bombs (my lucky shot of choice when the boys are down at half), and hours logged at the bar watching the NCAA tournament.

So when the girls convene for a little birthday brunch (in celebration of one of my best + brightest pals, Brina!), I construct an outfit of my alma mater’s colors (with some print-mixing thrown in for interest). This Zara coat is old (like, old), but I did manage to find it secondhand on eBay. I thought it played nicely with a new blouse from H&M and a pair of Rag&Bone boyfriend jeans. You can get my exact pair here, but they are pricey. (I snagged ’em on sale a few seasons back.) However, these and these are super similar for a fraction of the price.

I really love the print mix here; it’s loud and fun– like me, during the tournament. The boyfriend jeans add some toughness + androgyny, while the red pumps punctuate the look nicely. I love that the coat kept me warm, but the blouse and denim combo was lightweight enough for a warmer spring day. (Key to early spring outfitting in the Midwest, where it starts out freezing but warms up mid-day.)
