Now I’m working from home full time, I’m experimenting more with cozy-but-cool fashion. Don’t get me wrong, most days you can find me in a sweatsuit of some sort, but now that the looming idea of Back to Office (and office attire) is no longer on the table for me I’m ready to renovate my 9-5 style that blends casual and comfortable. Today we’re starting with an oversized color-block cardigan and a pair of dad jeans.

Now, I’m not someone who wears jeans every day; I definitely leaned into that stretchy-waistbands-only rule of quarantine. But I love the look of jeans, so I’m trying out this super slouchy pair of dad jeans from Abercrombie. As the name suggests, there’s no stretch to be found here. The denim is soft and broken in, though, so I just sized up (go slouch or go home) to capitalize on the comfort.

This color block cardigan was a VICI find that I couldn’t resist because I didn’t have anything else like it in my closet. (Get the same vibe here and here.) The color palette was fresh and different– springtime green and pastel pink with fall-ready orange? Okay, I’ll give it a shot. I draped it on over a simple white camisole that tied in a neutral white vibe from a pair of new white sneakers.

Shop the look:

Yes, these sneakers are aggressively expensive. (I got ’em on sale here.) No, you don’t need them. Any old sneaker will work fine as part of a jeans-and-a-cardigan situation. But if you want them and you’re looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous Golden Goose sneaker, I’d highly recommend these.

Another plus: these Saint Laurent’s don’t come all scuffed and dirty– if that’s your vibe, scuff away, but they check the box for those of us who want a clean sneaker. My OCD really doesn’t allow for a pre-dirtied shoe, but then again, my OCD does somehow allow for jeans I didn’t distress myself, so I acknowledge I’m a walking contradiction. It’s about fashion preference here, people, it doesn’t have to make solid sense.

    1. The cardigan is really cute on Zoom meetings, but it’s such a cozy piece I feel like I’m in pj’s or wrapped in a blanket! Best of both worlds!

    1. I went for a bit of a darker lip and it played really well against that bright cardigan’s color palette! Thanks, Allie! 🙂

  1. This is so colorful and I’m sure looks super cheerful and bright on your Zoom calls! My husband JUST went back to the office (5 days a week!) yesterday and he had to buy a lot of new clothes! WFH and office attire is def. two different styles!

    1. WFH is totally a different vibe, right? I’m feeling for your husband- that return to office life is rough! Hopefully he’s one of those extroverts that really loved being in-person and he’s loving it!

  2. The bright colours in this cardigan look so good on you! I really like it paired with the equally slouchy jeans too, such a comfortable casual outfit 🙂

Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 We had a couple fun Christmas gatherings 🙂

    1. Hi Jane, I’m not sure where you can find a pattern for this; I’m not very well-versed in the art of knitting! If you search around, I would use the terms “color block cardigan” and see what you can find!
