Transition mode is in full swing here in Kansas City– the leaves are turning and the nights are cool, but we’ve been climbing into the mid-70s and 80s in the afternoons. Perfect time to mix summer blouses with lightweight jackets.

This striped number from JCrew Factory is sleeveless and oh-so-summer when worn alone, but felt a little more like fall when I layered a chocolate faux leather jacket over the top. Love the open + draped front of the jacket, and this is certainly faux leather done right. Medium wash skinnies, a pair of brown suede ankle boots great for leaf-crunching, and a layered necklace combo got me out the door for an afternoon of errands + meetings.

Last week, I was given the opportunity by a local television station to appear on their mid-morning show, Better KC. They wanted to talk 90s fashion, which you guys know I’m all about lately (exhibits a, b, and c). I was soooo nervous– guys, we’re talking live television with zero delay. I was almost positive I was going to pass out, pee my pants, or drop an f-bomb.

Much to my surprise, none of those things happened. (Whew.) I credit the awesome crew at KCTV5, who gave me a ton of control preparing the segment and were so relaxed in those final moments as we prepared to go on air.

  13. Congrats on being on TV!! Isn’t it so nerve-racking before you go on?! I’ve experienced that a few times, but it’s such a relief when it’s over! I’m obsessed with this outfit. BB Dakota jackets are my favorite, and I love the relaxed fit of this on you!

  24. J.Crew Factory had the best clothes this summer! I passed that exact shirt up for a ruffle collar one but I still love it! I really like the jacket that you paired with it for fall!
