It doesn’t matter how many jackets are stuffed into my closet, I’m always on the hunt for a new one. It’s become a collection; Jacket Watch never stops. Pro tip? Don’t limit yourself to the women’s side of the store. I found this faux navy leather motorcycle jacket in the men’s section at Express. A men’s leather jacket means: a) guaranteed slouch, as men’s clothing is cut wider through the shoulders + sleeves, and b) a reduction in the likelihood you’re going to show up in the same thing as some other girl at the party/bar/game/office.

I kept the color palette dark and the pieces simple: a fitted black top (off-the-shoulder, not that you can tell because it was bloody freezing), ankle-length skinny jeans, and a pair of classic black suede pumps to add in a feminine element.

The lesson? Broaden those style horizons. This men’s leather jacket is just one successful example– I scan the boys’ side of the store for blazers and sweaters, as well. Pieces like these can all easily translate into a woman’s wardrobe and you get bonus points for being a bit original.

  9. I love to steal jackets from my husband! It is a great way to be stylish on a budget:) I do like to shop at men’s department too because their clothes is often of better quality.

    Anyhow, you look divine!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way you paired that winter jacket with heels is ingenious!!!!!!!!!

  11. Sometimes men’s garments have an odd boxy cut to them. I’ve tried my fiance’s clothes on before and had that issue. However, this totally looks like it belongs in the women’s section. It’s dainty and cut in a really flattering way! (:

    1. Agreed- boys’ cuts are boxier in general, so you have to find stuff you want to be boxy anyway- otherwise it looks like you’re wearing something that doesn’t fit!
