90’s, Baby.

I’m officially an 80’s kid, but barely remember it, save for some memories of Michael Jackson and Men at Work blasting over my parents’ bulky stereo. I was fortified in the 90’s on a strict diet of chokers and jeans that didn’t stretch. Remember jeans without any give whatsoever? That’s how these SheIn cutoffs do business: mid-rise, no stretch, borderline Mom-jean. And I love ’em. I immediately wanted to work the 90’s style angle to the max, so I tucked a tank + belted the shorts, put on a pair of leather mules, and slipped on a longline blouse as a vest (festival style status: achieved). When do I get my Aerosmith video cameo?

You guys know I love a cutoff (a, b, c), but these puppies are short. The longline blouse worn open as a vest/duster not only gives a great 90’s vibe, but also keeps things a bit more covered. Nice two-for-one.

    1. It’s crazy how quickly the 90s came back- or are we just getting old?! (I refuse, I refuse!) 🙂

  1. As a 90s baby, I totally appreciate this outfit! It also makes me realize how freaking amazing dusters are. I mean, does it get any better than a floor length sweater?! You look so casual chic!

There are some days when my 90s nostalgia is so bad. Don’t you wish you could go back sometimes? I miss it!

    1. The 90s were suuuuuch a jam- I don’t think I realized at the time just how cool they were, you know? Good thing they’re back! 🙂

  2. I was born in ’88, but I’m totally a ’90s girl. Really like the outfit! Now we just need to bring back the neon colors. Yes!!

  3. What a great look! I love that long, sleeveless shirt! And those shorts bring back memories of when I was a teen. You look great in them. I love your mules too. They look very similar to the ones I wore in my last fashion post. I never thought of wearing them with shorts. I will have to try that.

  4. “Fortified in the 90s on a strict diet of chokers and jeans that didn’t stretch” That is a clutch sentence. And this is a clutch outfit. I need those shorts.

    1. okay….i just re-read about the short part. Maybe I don’t need them seeing as they would probably be full on inappropriate on me. 🙁

  5. I love everything about this outfit right now to the mint color on your toes! I think it’s so fun to draw inspiration from other decades and make them work for now. Excellent job!

  6. You’ve seriously been killing it lately. I turn to you almost every morning for outfit inspiration! And I too am an 80s baby, but definitely remember the 90s better. I can’t tell if I love or hate that it’s making a come back, lol!

May I suggest having an “outfits” section on your site so creeps like me can easily browse thumbnails of your killer fashion in one spot? Take it or leave it, just my two cents! Honestly you’re becoming one of my fave fashion icons online!

    1. Larisa, you are too sweet! I’m glad I’m able to give you a little fashion inspo. 🙂 And I will def look into the “outfits” tab idea; this is great feedback! Thanks, babycakes!

  7. OMG, this is great. The 90’s they were awesome! You really rocked this look perfectly. Thanks for the flashback. I do remember those highwaisted jeans. They came up over the belly button and everything was tucked in… other than sweaters from Beneton. Your even giving us 90’s hair. This is how the girls in the heavy metal video wore their hair. Smoothing creams nor flatirons were even a thought. Big was in! Unfortunately this (modern & sleek) days, my hair does this when there’s high humidity. I don’t really remember mules but I believe you. Growing up my town/school was really preppy so we didn’t really dress as trendy as some of the others. It was Sperry Topsiders & Bass Loafers for us. We also wore Ellesse sneakers. I bet no one even heard of those. Ugh, the good ole days.
Anyway, love this post. You look amazing.

  8. Only YOU can pull off these cut off with that much amount of sophistication!! Love that you added the white blouse for coverage and for the absolutely best 90’s vibe!! Aerosmith will be lucky to have you ;). Cheers!

  9. Such a fantastic look, yes I remember jeans that didn’t stretch but haven’t thought about them for a while. Thank you for the walk down memory lane 🙂 This is such a great look, I need to invest in one of those long flowing vests, you wear it so well!
