A White Button-Up Remix with Denim Culottes and Simple Sandals.

Remixing a white button-up shirt for an elevated fall-ish outfit.

Thank you so much to everyone who reached out with kind words + comments on the news I shared in my last post. I start the new gig this week and it’s going to be rad! In the meantime, let’s dig into a remixed version of my outfit for the September issue of KC Homes & Style. I carried that oversized white button-up over and added a pair of wide-leg culotte jeans and a simple, low-profile sandal.

The idea? Sophisticated but casual, comfortable but not frumpy. Lots of balance, too. Since both the shirt and the jeans have some volume, tucking the shirt in becomes a high priority to feature the high waist (and fitted seat, ha). This keeps me from being swallowed by Too Much Fabric.

I love the cool vibe these minimalistic sandals give the look, too. (Although you could easily swap out the sandal for an ankle bootie or sneaker if the weather turns on you.) They’re chic enough for brunch but casual enough you don’t appear to be trying too hard. A smattering of gold jewelry adds some easy polish.

I’m planning on remixing this white button-up in a few different ways this fall: worn open as a lightweight layer (over a t-shirt, camisole, or even a thin turtleneck, all weather-depending) or as a dress over a pair of opaque leggings with ankle boots. It will also work for the office with a pair of black trousers and pumps. You could even button it all the way up and slip a massive statement over the top to really add some glamour. The ideas keep coming…

    1. A white shirt like this is always in the style cards, for sure! And yes- I started today and it’s been WOW BUSY. First day almost done and dusted, though! 🙂

  1. Hello Ashley!

You can never go wrong with a white shirt and jeans. These style of sandals are one of my favourites…very easy to style, comfortable but not flip-flops.

    Have a great day!

  2. I wore a similar outfit the other day! I just love the combination of flared jeans and a casual white shirt. Just the best. Definitely going to wear this combo again later, but with boots and a coat! Xx

  3. I love this look on you. I can just see you kicking it back on the patio, mid afternoon, with some friends. I guess we are twinning this week with our button up shirts! Enjoy the new job this week.
