Valentine’s Day Outfit Idea: Red Dress + Black Boots.

Dressing up? A Valentine’s Day outfit for a night on town.

Now that we’re out of January (bless!), February 14th is just around the corner. Which means it’s time to start planning that Valentine’s Day outfit. If you’re going the fancy route– be it with your main squeeze or a group of pals– let me suggest something of the burgundy variety, like this dress from H&M. (It’s last season, but I’ve linked so many killer alternatives at the end of this post.) The swingy tassels and ruffles add some fun, while the slouchy tie waist means you can clean your plate and not have to worry about an obvious food baby. The lightweight fabric needed some warming up to make it winter-ready, so I layered tights on underneath (not pictured: a heavy shearling jacket) and a pair of cool pointed toe boots.

H&M dress (super similar here for under $50; also similar here and on sale here) // Target tights (a steal for $6) // Zara boots (similar here and love these on sale for about $100) // Ray-Ban sunglasses

Although this dress is lighter in weight (which makes it ideal for early fall, spring, and brisk summer nights), the color and longer sleeves make it a great pick for a Valentine’s Day outfit. Just don’t forget your coat!

Stay tuned: next week I’ll be sharing a more casual Valentine’s Day outfit for those keeping the festivities lower key.

    1. I would go with a motorcycle jacket (if it’s not too cold) or something duster-length (if it’s freezing)! 🙂

  1. You’re the MOST Beautiful Valentine ever! I love the dress, the color and how you styled it with the tights and booties is just perfect! Have a wonderful weekend doll!

  2. This is a lovely dress to wear for a Valentine’s Day celebration…which reminds me that I need to think of what my helpmeet and I are going to do this year (it’s always complicated by the fact that our wedding anniversary is 11 days later).

  3. Loving the playful boho vibe of this dress! I’d totally wear this for a date night out. Speaking of which, don’t I have like less than two weeks to figure out a Valentine’s day date night?! ah! Where is time going?!

  4. You look gorgeous in that shade of red, girlfriend! Your look happens to look a little British to me. When I was in London last year, I was inspired by the way women there stay warm and chic with black tights and shoes/boots. Love your use of that very clever tactic!
