A summer sweater to ease into fall with layers.
I have long raved about the summer sweater. It’s a great piece for cooler summer events (evening bonfires, offices that stay perennially 65 degrees), and it works so well for taking that summer wardrobe right into fall. This chocolate sweater tank is perfect for layering with cozier pieces– like a deep blush chenille cardigan– and that killer pair of super high-waisted jeans from Madewell I’ve been wearing constantly this summer. Just like I knew they would, these jeans look amazing with a pair of neutral ankle booties.
We’re approaching that time of year when having a cardigan or jacket on hand becomes necessary; the morning and evening temperatures carry some chill, but the afternoons still heat up. Being able to throw on + take off a cardigan is super handy, and I love the texture play with the chenille against the summer sweater tank. I scored both of these pieces at Kindred Shops at Oak Park Mall, by the way– if you’re in KC, you should swing through!
Shop the look:
On the accessories front, I kept things pretty simple. There’s the ever-present Garmin vivoactive 3, which I rarely take off these days. Since I’ve been spinning + lifting at work before coming home for the evening, wearing my workout watch all the time is just easier. This watch does everything: tracks steps, charts your sleep, has a ton of different workout types to select for accurate calorie-counting during exercise, rep counting (so handy for lifting sessions!), and constant heart rate monitoring so your calories burned are logged even when you haven’t started an activity.
My exact watch is here and I wear it with this super affordable band. Yes, it’s marble (although there are a ton of color/print options). Or marble-esque. And yes, I’m basic: just give me all the marble things.
Programming note: Kansas City pals, I’ll be on KCTV 5’s Better Kansas City tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. to talk fall fashion trends. (Hint: menswear, red, and statement-makers!) Happy Thursday,

Aren’t they super fun? I love ’em!
I’m totally digging the sleeveless sweater! They’re an awkward clothing where it is too hot in the summer and too cold to wear in the Winter. Rock it girl! And that cardigan looks so cozy and soft! Obsessed!

The sleeveless element is so good because it keeps this piece from being too hot- great for transiting out of summer!
Love the black sweater! Lovely cardigan.

Oh these sweaters look lovely layered together. Though here in New York it is still too hot to wear sweaters. I am hoping we will get some fall weather and not just go from summer to winter but I am doubtful

That chenille cardigan is just gorgeous! LOVE the color. Love it combined with the sleeveless sweater too. I prefer wearing something sleeveless under my sweaters and blazers for less bulk and discomfort on the arms.
Cute outfit! Your cardi looks so soft and cosy 🙂
Hope you are having a nice weekend 🙂

Such great pieces to help you ease into the fall season. Love the look!

My transitional outfits nowadays have been very similar to this one: I wear a blouse/t-shirt, some jeans and ankle booties, and a cardigan. Unfortunately, it’s still a little too hot here to comfortably wear jeans and ankle boots, but I couldn’t care less haha. I can’t wait for Fall weather!
