This and That: Loafer Pump Edition.

Geek is chic.

The oxford/brogue has been around for a minute, worn with cuffed denim or a floaty dress. They are a great alternative to the ballet flat; same level of comfort with more edge.

Now, fashion can’t leave a girl flat-footed (at least not for long). Enter the loafer pump. Same geeky appeal, sophisticated and a little sassy (especially when it comes in a flashy medium like shiny black patent). Something you could easily wear both to the office and on the town.

A pair of Burberry loafer pumps caught my eye while window-shopping at Nordstromβ€” love at first sight. I wasn’t so keen on the $695 price tag. Time for a game of This and That:

Loafer PumpThis super cute pair from Sam Edelman gives the same aesthetic: sharp patent leather, fringed tassels and embroidered detail. The Edelman’s are more dainty than the Burberry’s with slim heel and a less aggressive tread, but this is a still a fine trade. Price tag? $180. Not bad for a shoe that will carry you through several seasons.

  1. Wow, what a great find! Love the Burberry but that price is steep! The Sam Edelman’s are much cheaper and still just as cute!

  2. I love your This and That posts! Those Burberry pumps are to die for, I love the big chunky heel. Sperry has a pair that looks similar to those but the platform/heel are a neutral color instead of black. Still trying to decide if I want to buy them… they’re $110. What do you think, Miss White?

    1. Carrie- are you talking about these?

If so, I like. They aren’t as dressy as either of the ones I featured, but they are still really cute. If you want to dress it up a bit, consider these: same designer, same price point, all black. The only difference is rather than a pump, it’s a wedge. No big d, right? Still spot-on. πŸ™‚

  3. These remind me of a pair of dress shoes my dad always wore to work when I was little- the detail/tassle, not the heel! I love the mix of masculine with feminine. Both these shoes are amazing!

  4. Yes, those are exactly what I’m talking about. I thought the same thing, a little too casual for what I’m looking for in a black loafer, although, I think I’m going to have to get the tan suede ones. I feel like they’d make my legs look ten miles long. I do like the wedge, too! Decisions, decisions! Thanks for your input!
