Indulge your inner Halston-Studio54-Charlie’s-Angel and start hunting for 70s-esque pieces for this spring (and summer, for that matter).
70s Glam is essentially an updated/slightly tweaked version of boho, but with a little oopmh:
Think big, flowy maxi dresses (belt the waist to showcase your shape and bring the look into 2011) and floppy hats (I am dying to be a Hat Girl, aren’t you?). Free People is doing some great 70s stuff in the maxi department, as well.
Start shopping for sky-high wedges, either in the uber-platform or espadrille variety. (Check the super-cute green, white and beige wedges above— a nod to color block!)
Jewelry goes full-stop with feather earrings, lots of gold and great chunky bangles.
Flares are back— one of my favorite ways to wear them is with a tucked-in button-up, standard brown belt and wedges. If flares aren’t your thing (I definitely have to be in the mood; this is not my standard look), no worries. Skinnies and slim-cut denim are still in.
Another way to pull the 70s in is with a breezy blouse. Achieves the aesthetic, but is also good for those just wanting to sample the trend (and not necessarily go all Nicole Richie with an entire outfit).
I’m pretty pumped to work some 70s glam into my closet. What about you?
I’m totally embracing the 70s look. I just want to be Bianca Jagger 🙂
I would LOVE to see your take on a guy-focused, spring line up! I love your style and any tips for us guys from you would be fabulous!
I agree with Anna Jane- I want to be Bianca! 🙂
