Sequined Joggers + Long Wool Trench.

Sending 2020 off with the loudest outfit possible: sequined joggers and a printed blouse.

Who is ready to give 2020 the boot?! I know I am. It’s been one helluva rough year and I think we’re all ready for a fresh start. New Year’s Eve is not only a time to ring in the new year, but it’s also my birthday. So you know I have to bring it. This year it’s a pair of sequined joggers, an oversized art deco printed blouse, camel pumps, and a long wool trench.

I built the look around these joggers– because what is more 2020 than a pair of joggers? Rose gold sequins and satin trim elevate them above basic athleisure and more NYE-ready. (Get a similar version here and here.) I wanted to add something unexpected, so I grabbed this art deco shirt I snagged from the men’s section at Zara.

To balance those bold elements, I slipped on a pair of camel-colored leather pumps and a matching long wool trench. The blouse’s pink background and the orange in the print really worked to tie the whole look together. The pumps and trench are classics, while the blouse and joggers are trendier pieces. Altogether, this look is interesting, over-the-top. but somehow not too much. (Especially considering I’ll be staying in this year.)

Here’s what I dig about this trench: it’s a great length + weight. It provides some warmth without the bulk. (I wouldn’t trot it out in the middle of a deep freeze, but it’s solid for any days 40 degrees and above.) I love the length; it feels super glam.

All in all, I say this outfit is perfect for kicking 2020 to the curb! I hope you all have a safe, happy new year and a much better 2021!
