Plaid is everywhere, have you noticed? And more than just the usual the-weather-is-turning-colder-grab-the-plaid-blanket. Blazers, outerwear, skirts, slipper flats, etc. Plaid is a classic print perfect for the fall and winter, with a nod to all things Ivy League.
A lightweight pleated plaid mini gets an autumn update when worn with an over-sized black sweater. (I bought the sweater a few sizes up in order to get that slouchy feel.) A pair of black leather booties add just a bit of unexpected toughness. It’s schoolgirl with a twist.
Bonus: I feel a bit Cher in Clueless. (“That’s Ren and Stimpy. They’re way existential.”)
When late fall truly sets in, I’ll pair this look with tights in order to stretch the skirt through the season. But it’s legs out for now while it’s still warm enough to bear.
On deck for my weekend: an appointment with my stylist (darkening up the ombré is my way of acknowledging that summer is really gone) and drinks with friends.
