Ruffled Midi Skirt + Blush Sweater with Kindred Shops.

Continuing the summer to fall transition with a slouchy sweater and a midi skirt.

One of my favorite carryover looks from last fall is the chunky sweater + midi skirt combo. That juxtaposition between cable knit and swingy skirt is too good to pass up. You’ve seen this gorgeous blush sweater number before in DC, and today I wore it with this mauve ruffled midi skirt. Both items are from Kindred Shops here in Kansas City.

This outfit is perfect for the earlier part of the fall season with a mule sandal (I love these and these) and bare legs. When those temps hover in the 30s later in November, I love the idea of swapping the sandal out for a tall boot. Something slouchy with a bit of a heel to contrast against the girly nature of those ruffles.

I really love throwing a chunky knit on top of something slinky– who says you have to retire those silky slip dresses and midi skirts come autumn? No way. Throw a sweater on top, add an ankle bootie or the aforementioned slouchy boot, and you’re right on the style money. And if the slinky piece is animal print? (Think leopard, snakeskin, or a tiger stripe.) You’re golden.

Did September fly by for anyone else? It was a whirlwind for me. With a travel weekend at the beginning of the month and lots of craziness at my 9-5, I feel like I blinked and the month passed. October is next, one of my favorite months. It finally starts to cool off in KC, the leaves start to change, and sweaters feel fully appropriate and not stifling. Are you ready for fall?
